Ryan Newman – Buick Roadmaster Convertible 1948 – $7,800
There is a misconception that those who go into extreme sports are people who do not really plan their lives out — if this is true, then Ryan Newman will have to be an exception. He actually earned his degree in engineering prior to becoming a monster on the track. When he debuted as a racetrack driver in 1993, he immediately became famous after winning the championship that year. He was also given the Rookie of the Year Award.
As with other race car drivers, Newman has an affinity for older vehicles. He lays claim to a Buick Roadmaster Convertible that was released in 1948. He restored it to its former beauty and spent a lot of money to do so. Classic vehicles, when sold, are usually not in their prime health, so he ended up paying more than the purchase price. But for someone who has repaired a 1949 Buick Spider and a 1974 Triumph TR-6, it was all worth the effort.
