Jónína Leósdóttir & Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir
In Iceland, Jónína Leósdóttir and Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir undoubtedly take credit for being one of the most recognized LGBT couples around. With that said, the former started her career as a flight attendant, which she had for almost nine years. After some time, though, she eventually shifted her focus to more political ventures, leading her to become the country’s prime minister from 2009 to 2013. Since then, after retiring, Leósdóttir has lived a more low-key lifestyle with her wife.
Meanwhile, Sigurðardóttir is a writer who finished her studies at the University of Iceland, graduating with a bachelor’s in English and Literature. Through the years, she has written numerous works, including articles, two biographies, several plays, and eleven novels. The most recent book she released covers the relationship she and her wife have. In addition, with the fame she has garnered along the way, it’s no surprise Sigurðardóttir’s works have been translated to other languages now and then.
