Harry Belafonte – 94

Harry Belafonte is a singer and actor who is considered one of the most successful artists among Jamaican-American stars. Dubbed as the King of Calypso, Belafonte has capitalized on his talent with the musical style that is inspired by the Trinidadian Caribbean, making his music distinct and international powerful during the ‘50s.

For his first album titled Calypso, the internationally popular pop star Belafonte won his million as a solo artist. He then recorded and was given credit for the song The Banana Boat Song that catapulted his career to major stardom. Aside from this style, Belafonte also showcased his other talent in singing other genres such as gospel, show tunes, folk, and blues. During the start of his career, Belafonte was able to enter the acting department, starring in ‘50s films Carmen Jones, Island in the Sun, and Odds Against Tomorrow.
