Sam Elliott – 76

Well-built, tall, and equipped with rugged good looks, Sam Elliott was frequently cast as a cowboy and rancher. His deep, rich voice and western drawl added to his appeal as the quintessential American cowboy on-screen. He started his acting career in theater and later made his film debut in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in 1969.

These days, Elliott is one of the most famous faces in the industry, but despite his 50 years in the industry and his signature drawl and upper lip adornment, it wasn’t until relatively recently that he started to gain recognition for his skills. In fact, while he has appeared in several movies over the decades that you’ve definitely seen numerous times—some of which are certainly among your favorites—it wouldn’t be shocking if you didn’t know his name until the last few years.
