Singer-songwriter Gladys Knight has had a stellar career in music. Her solo debut happened when she was only 4 years old and sang in a Baptist Church in Georgia. From there, Knight went on to sing with the rest of her siblings by the time she was 8. They called themselves The Pips and went on to become the opening act for various R&B icons like Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson, just to name a few. The Pips had a great time with Motown Records before signing with Buddah Records in 1973. This was when they ventured into making pop music.
It was here where The Pips recorded the song, Midnight Train to Georgia, which would become their signature song in 1973. Knight and her siblings enjoyed the peak of their career during the 1970s and went on to host their TV special too. Knight also appeared in the film Pipe Dreams, where she and The Pips recorded the soundtrack. The singer certainly had a great time in the music industry.
