Dolly Parton & Carl Thomas Dean – 55 Years

A five-decade marriage is almost unheard of in Hollywood, but Dolly Parton and Carl Thomas Dean prove that it can happen. The two first met in 1964, outside a laundromat in Nashville. Parton was 18 at the time, while Dean was 21. It was love at first sight for them, and after two years of dating, they eventually tied the knot in Ringgold, Georgia. It happened just after Parton’s big break as a singer, and her song, Dumb Blonde, was climbing up the charts.

Their union wasn’t without its challenges, and this couple deserves credit for making it work despite it all. In a 2015 interview, Parton shared that being with someone who’s the total opposite of her is fun and full of surprises. At present, they’re stronger than ever. They even renewed their vows during their 50th anniversary!
