The Last Kingdom (Renewed)

Inspired by Bernard Cornwell’s The Saxon Stories collection of novels, The Last Kingdom was originally developed to air on television by Stephen Butchard and aired back in October 2015 on BBC. Three years later, Netflix bought the rights for the show. The series follows Uhtred, who witnessed his father’s death and the defeat of the Saxon army. He was then taken by Danish warlord Ragnar and raised him with Brida, a fellow captive. A few years later, Uhtred, who had become improved to a high degree, is faced with another disaster: the passing of Ragnar and his surrogate family. Uhtred must ultimately choose between his native country or the people who took him in.

The series aired for five seasons and is set to conclude with the final season, which began airing in March 2022.
