Never Have I Ever (Renewed)

Never Have I Ever, which, to some degree, shares themes with Netflix’s I’m Not Okay With This and other coming-of-age shows, deserves a lot of attention. The show follows Devi, an Indian-American high school student who is dealing with the aftermath of her father’s sudden death. It is loosely based on Mindy Kaling’s (the show’s creator) adolescent years. She became unable to walk as a result of the immense psychological trauma that it caused.

The show has been praised for its brilliant portrayal of South Asian culture and for going beyond stereotypes. A month after its premiere in July 2020, Never Have I Ever was renewed for a second season. Seasons two, three, and four followed. The third and fourth seasons are scheduled to debut in the summers of 2022 and 2023, respectively.
