October Faction (Canceled)

October Faction is a supernatural and horror drama based on Damien Worm and Steve Niles’s titular book series, which premiered on Netflix in January 2020 as the latter’s original series. It tells the story of Fred and Deloris Allen, a monster-hunting couple, and their adolescent children, Geoff and Viv. Following the death of Fred’s father, the family decides to return to their hometown of Barrington-on-Hudson.

Though the series received positive feedback from viewers, it is unclear why Netflix dropped it and did not renew it for a second season. Perhaps the viewership was insufficient to justify their investments. On Rotten Tomatoes, it received a rating of 49 percent, which was slightly higher than the critics’ 33 percent. Around the same time, Netflix released three dream series that presumably drew similar audiences. That could explain why they decided against a second season. In any case, fans still have a plethora of series to choose from.
