Gentefied (Canceled)

People have always enjoyed stories that center on characters that they can easily relate to, such as the comedy-drama television series Gentefied, which chronicles the struggle of three Mexican-American cousins who are chasing the American dream – even though that very dream threatens to destroy the things they cherish the most: their immigrant grandfather, their family taco shop, and neighborhood.

The show was praised for its authentic Latino representation, but even with the new season, it didn’t make it into Netflix’s Top 10, which likely played a role in the streaming service’s decision to cancel the series’ renewal for a third season, taking into account viewership, cost, and critical reviews. Gentefied received a 92 percent approval rating based on 24 reviews in its first season and a 100 percent approval rating based on 5 reviews on the review website Rotten Tomatoes. It’s still a high degree for a show, but not enough to warrant a continuation.
