In the Room (Cancelled)

High viewership doesn’t guarantee any degree of renewal for any program in the television industry. There are cases where cancellation happens due to a network’s desire to undergo internal restructuring. Unfortunately, the show In the Room faced this reality as it won’t be returning for another season. The announcement occurred following the restructuring of NBCUniversal, which was E!’s parent company.

One could argue that the cancellation was part of NBCUniversal’s strategy to streamline its programming line-up. It’s certainly an unfortunate reality as fans were hooked on the show as it featured celebrity interviews and house tours. Subsequently, the show’s host, Jason Kennedy, has also withdrawn from the network in order to expand his opportunities. During its run, In the Room was one of the most-watched series on the network, and it had been on the air for over 16 years.
