Netflix Shows That Has Recently Cancelled Or Renewed
Space Force (Renewed)
If Space Force is not renewed, we riot! Fortunately, Netflix gave Steve Carrell’s show the green-light after a successful first season. Continuing the comedy series should have been a no-brainer given all the profit it made the production company. No doubt a lot of investment planning was involved in the creation of the show.
Inspired by former President Donald Trump’s plan to create a sixth branch in the military, Space Force features the decorated pilot and four-star general, Mark R. Naird (Carell). He dreams of running the Air Force but finds himself heading the newly formed Space Force instead. Fans watch General Naird’s journey in the first season, and Carell gives a splendid performance, along with the rest of the show’s superb cast. Aside from being the lead star, Carrell also co-created the series along with The Office creator Greg Daniels. Space Force Season 2 is set to begin production in Vancouver in 2021.
The Umbrella Academy (Renewed)
The Hargreeves will all return to action in The Umbrella Academy Season 3. The quarreling siblings will continue their journey to stop the apocalypse. The show got credit for being among the most-watched shows on Netflix just a week after its release—no wonder Netflix asked for another 10-hour run. The third season’s production began in February 2021 in Toronto, Canada.
It will feature the original cast members — Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, avid Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore. They are all set to reprise their roles. In The Umbrella Academy Season 3, the Hargreeves have to find a way to reunite, put aside all their issues, know what caused the doomsday, and put a stop to it. This time, they need each other’s help to save the world and make another successful run.
Virgin River (Renewed)
Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), and more are set to be back in Virgin River Season 3. Netflix renewed the series for another 10 new episodes, and will reportedly be introducing a couple of new characters. Zibby Allen and Stacey Farber will be joining the show as series regulars while some surprise guest stars will get a recurring role.
In the third season, fans will see Allen play the role of Jack’s sister. She is a smart lawyer who knows how to have fun. On the other hand, Farber will be playing Tara Anderson, Lilly’s (Linda Boyd) daughter. She will help her mom look after Baby Chloe while her other three siblings are living away from home. Of course, most of the original cast, like Breckenridge, Henderson, and more, will return to reprise their roles in the series, along with other staff and crew.
F Is For Family (Final Season)
Fans will see Frank Murphy (Bill Burr) and the rest of the Murphy family in the last and final season of F is For Family. Aside from being its lead star, Burr also gets credit for being the adult animated comedy’s co-creator and executive producer. He thanked fans who watched and supported the show during its six-year run. He also went all-out and expressed his gratitude to the people behind the series who made every episode possible.
On the other hand, co-creator Michael Price revealed working on F is For Family was the greatest joy of his life, saying he got to work with a great cast as well as a great set of writers and producers. He said he was beyond thrilled to do another season. By the looks of it, it is officially goodbye to the foul-mouthed family that fans all over the world have loved.
Away (Canceled)
It was quite a surprise that Netflix canceled the science-fiction drama, Away. According to reports, the Hilary Swank show was, to some degree, one of the most promising new series the streaming service had in a while. Its entire ten episodes were nail-biting, and everyone wants to know what will be next for Emma Green (Hilary Swank) and her team. After she and her group landed safely on Mars –thankfully, they didn’t run out of gas—the show just abruptly ended.
Unfortunately, fans won’t know what happens next because of the sudden cancellation. Now, the big question is why Netflix canceled the show? Esquire noted it might have something to do with the show’s costly production. A single episode costs $6 million to complete, making it, pound-for-pound, the most expensive Netflix show of all time. Since the show demanded a big budget, it may have been too much for the streaming service to handle.
Narcos: Mexico (Renewed)
Felix Gallardo (Diego Luna) may be gone, but the story of Narcos: Mexico will continue in Season 3. After renewing the crime drama series, Netflix added nine series regulars as a new chapter begins. Scoot McNairy will be leading the show, reprising his role as DEA agent Walt Breslin. He will continue the story where Felix left, though it is yet to be seen how things will play out.
With huge investment money involved, the new season will explore the war that will begin after Felix’s empire shatters. As the violence continues and the struggle to survive worsens, there will be new Mexican kingpins coming. However, in this dirty business, the first casualty is the truth, while every arrest, killing, and take-down will hardly mean victory for the officials. Instead, it will take them away further from solving the issue.
Hoops (Canceled)
The game is now over for the animated sitcom, Hoops, following Netflix’s cancellation after just one season. The cancellation news came three months after the show premiered in August 2020. The network weighs a show’s cost and audience size before it officially renews or cancels it — this is supposed to help them decide whether or not to spend more investment money.
Sadly, Hoops received a lot of negative reviews, and this necessarily means that the show’s creator, Ben Hoffman, won’t be continuing Jake Johnson’s fictional story. Hollywood Reporter Daniel Fienberg called the show a “disappointment” despite the big names behind it. Aside from Hoffman, Phil Lord and Chris Miller were also its executive producers. Hoops tells the story of Jake, who dreams of joining the NBA as he fights his way into the business. Unfortunately, the show didn’t pique enough interest to justify a renewal.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous (Renewed)
The fun adventure of the six teenagers will continue in Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. Set within the hit movie Jurassic World’s timeline, the first season featured the new adventure camp on the other side of Isla Nublar. However, when the dinosaurs started to cause chaos on the island, an epic adventure began.
To continue their incredible journey, Netflix gave the series the green light to drop new episodes in 2021. As the campers struggle to survive, will they all come out victorious in this different kind of escapade? The show will continue to feature the voices of Paul-Mikél Williams, Jenna Ortega, Ryan Potter, and Raini Rodriguez, among others. Surely, the executive producers, led by Steven Spielberg himself, along with Colin Trevorrow, Frank Marshall, and more, won’t mind spending large amounts of money on the show given their excellent credit scores.
The Order (Canceled)
Jack Morton (Jake Manley) and Alyssa Drake (Sarah Grey) have officially said goodbye as Netflix’s The Order has come to an end after two seasons. Netflix canceled the horror drama series and it was announced by Dennis Heaton himself. Heaton gets the credit for being the show’s creator, writer, and executive producer. He said he had been honored to work with “an incredible cast and crew” that gave him one of the best working experiences of his career.
Sadly, there will be no Season 3, but he promised to always cherish the memories he had and the props he stole from the show. He then thanked all the fans for watching and supporting the series for two consecutive years. If The Order Season 3 pushed through, Heaton revealed that Jack would need to be raising Alyssa from the dead, and that she would come back wrong, ala Pet Sematary scenario.
The Baby-Sitter Club (Renewed)
With the new flavor it brings, Netflix called for The Baby-Sitter Club’s renewal. Fans will get to see the hilarious theatrics of Kristy Thomas (Sophie Grace), Claudia Kishi (Momona Tamada), and Stacey McGill (Shady Rudolph) continue in the second season. In celebration of their return, the cast announced the second season’s coming in a video.
The show is based on Ann M. Martin’s best-selling book series with the same name. The books sold more than 180 million copies to date. Everything started when the middle-schoolers, led by Kristy, started their own babysitting business. Without the need for any investments, the kids start to earn on their own without leaving the town of Stoneybrook, Connecticut. Because of the well-received first season and the 100% approval from Rotten Tomatoes, the coming of The Baby-Sitter Club Season 2 is already a given.
Emily in Paris (Renewed)
Despite the criticisms, Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) will continue her fun adventure in Emily in Paris Season 2. Netflix ordered a second season after the successful first-season run. The renewal is not surprising and fans already expected it. After the show launched, it couldn’t be denied that it started an online stir, as well as got a number of negative responses from French critics.
Anyhow, ratings-wise, the show did very well and even turned to be one of the network’s strongest performers. It was included in Nielsen’s list of ten most-watched Netflix series. It even managed to surpass the likes of Grey’s Anatomy and Criminal Minds, which are already staples in every home. However, some wish Emily will start using her credit card and enrol herself in the right French class come next season instead of the non-stop shopping.
Feel Good (Final Season)
Feel Good’s cast and crew were feeling really good after Netflix renewed the series for a second and final season. The cameras are now rolling for the show’s production in 2021, and fans will again see Linda (Lisa Kudrow), Mae (Mae Martin), and the rest of the gang on the small screen. Netflix and UK’s Channel 4 joined forces to produce the show’s first season, while the second one will be featured exclusively on the streaming giant. Where will the series take fans this time?
Feel Good Season 2 will continue the complicated love story of Mae and George (Charlotte Richi). Mae has been having a problem with the ghosts of her past, and so George is willing to make great investments to change it. As the show is about to bid goodbye, fans have to find out if they will continue to grow together or apart.
The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (Canceled)
After just one season, Netflix canceled The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. In case fans don’t know, this fantasy series is a prequel to the original 1982 film, 39 years in the making. Knowing fans badly want to know how its story will officially conclude, the show’s executive producer Lisa Henson promises to look for ways to tell it in the future.
The Dark Crystal features a combination of classic, Henson-brand puppetry and modern effects technology. It tells the story of the dying Thra world, where the Crystal of Truth lies–a source of untold power but damaged by the evil Skeksis to a worsening degree. However, when three Gelfling learn of the horrific truth behind the Skeksis’ power, a new adventure begins, along with a rebellion and a series of epic battles to save the planet. Sadly, fans will never get to see what will happen next from here.
Blood of Zeus (Renewed)
Netflix gives Blood of Zeus was greenlit to continue for a second season. In a post on Twitter, the streaming service formally announced the show’s return, teasing the continuation of Heron’s adventures. Netflix’s Greek mythology-inspired anime series is, to its credit, an original piece of work. They wanted to call it Gods & Heroes at first but the name got changed somewhere along the line.
It started streaming in October 2020, telling the story of Heron, son of Zeus. He is set to fulfill his mission to save Olympus and Earth. From here will the adventure in Blood of Zeus Season 2 begin. The show’s first season quickly met critical acclaim, earning a 100% approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes with its 19 positive reviews. It also has an 80% audience score based on 379 user ratings. Fans are about to see more of Heron as the Parlapanides brothers want the anime to run for five seasons.
Cobra Kai (Renewed)
Cobra Kai experienced an astonishing degree of success when it appeared on Youtube’s premium service in 2018. It is slowly gaining traction, and now it is making noise, screaming for a fourth season. It looks like Netflix heard the cries of the fans, and Cobra Kai Season 4 is will definitely hit the small screen. Production for the show’s fourth installment has now begun, and the season will reportedly introduce two new cast members, Dallas Dupree Young and Oona O’Brien.
These two will both play recurring roles, beginning with Young as Kenny. He is a bullied kid who wants to learn karate to use as a form of self-defense. Alternatively, O’Brien will play the role of Devon, an intellectual and competitive student who has a quick temper. Of course, the surprising collaboration between Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchi) against John Kreese (Martin Kove) will also be featured here.
13 Reasons Why (Final Season)
Netflix has released many widely-known shows through the years, one of which is the 13 Reasons Why series. Ever since the first season’s release, it has garnered varying degrees of attention from viewers and critics, particularly due to the themes and topics it tackled throughout the story.
With the story revolving around a main cast of high-schoolers, 13 Reasons Why’s showrunner Brian Yorkey said on numerous occasions that the best way to end the series is with the characters graduating from school. With that said, back when the show was announced to continue with the third season, Yorkey did all that he could to ensure the story – based on the best-selling novel of the same name – ends on the fourth season. He is hoping that the last season will symbolize the four years of high school the characters went through. Well, by the looks of it, it’s safe to say he finished the show at just the right time.
AJ And The Queen (Canceled)
Stories often follow similar premises with one another, but it’s how they are delivered that makes them entertaining and fun to listen to, watch, or read. Well, one example is Netflix’s AJ and the Queen, a road trip drama-comedy series revolving around its titular leads. Each episode shows the duo traveling from one place to another, sharing inspiring and wholesome messages to everyone they meet – all while developing their friendship, too.
Although it only has one season, AJ and the Queen was sadly canceled just months after its premiere. The announcement was made after the show’s lead star, RuPaul, shared the sad news to his Twitter followers. Reasons behind its cancellation are unknown, but rest assured that Netflix has since focused its investment money on newer projects. With that in mind, it’s safe to say RuPaul has also gone on to other ventures, so fans have that to look forward to, as well.
The Curious Creations Of Christine McConnell (Canceled)
As previously mentioned, many of the stories we find often share similar premises. Even so, that doesn’t mean they can’t be mixed together to make a new and interesting take. One such example is The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell, a cooking show with a sitcom format that has a gothic, Halloween-themed aesthetic.
Although the show has a production team behind it, Christine McConnell takes credit for some of the behind-the-scenes work, such as editing and post-production. As an already-recognized figure in social media, Christine showcased more of her talents on the show, and this got her more fans along the way. Even so, the series was canceled after just one season. Despite the news, fans of Christine and the cooking program suggested that she show proposition other streaming services, like YouTube and Hulu, to continue the series. If things turn in their favor, perhaps a second season is within the realm of possibility – here’s to hoping!
Another Life (Renewed)
We have been entertained with numerous sci-fi stories revolving around futuristic technology and aliens. Well, another title that has recently joined the list is Netflix’s Another Life. It follows a group of people attempting to discover the origins of an unknown flying object that crashed on Earth. Whether it’s from a friendly extra-terrestrial race or a hostile one, there’s only one way to find out, and that is to establish contact with them.
With the first season premiering on the streaming service in mid-2019, Another Life received mostly negative reviews. Even so, it was offered a season renewal, so perhaps there is something good to be had from it. In fact, the show’s lead actress, Katee Sackhoff, who also co-wrote and produced the series, is more than happy to keep the story going, an investment she hopes to maintain for many years to come.
GLOW (Canceled)
Many of us love to watch sporting events like wrestling matches — the same can also be said for story-driven shows. The entertainment industry has provided us with programs that mix the two — narratives revolving around athletes and the challenges they tackle inside and outside the sport. One such show that had the same premise was Netflix’s comedy-drama series, GLOW, which focused on a cast of female wrestlers.
Since its 2017 premiere, the show garnered quite a following. Although it’s not as popular as the other shows in by the streaming service, GLOW still managed to hold its own, lasting three seasons! Although investments were already made for its fourth – and supposedly final – season, recent circumstances led Netflix executives to undo their initial plan and cancel the project altogether. We’re not sure what exactly happened, but suffice to say that it’s over for this rag-tag bunch of female wrestlers.
Blood & Water (Renewed)
At this point, we have seen more than a few high-school dramas already, such as the previously-mentioned 13 Reasons Why series. Well, another title that has recently received widespread recognition is Netflix’s Blood & Water. The story revolves around Puleng, a high school girl in search of her missing sibling. Along the way, she meets Fikile, who – to some degree – bears quite a resemblance to her sister. As a result, Puleng decides to transfer to the same school as Fikile, hoping she can finally get to the bottom of this mystery.
Despite that its first season only had six episodes, Blood & Water garnered a barrage of praise from fans, critics, and even from the Netflix executives themselves – not to mention it was also on the streaming service’s number-1 spot for many weeks. With that said, it comes as no surprise that the show eventually received its well-deserved season renewal. In fact, filming for the second season already began last November 2020.
Ashley Garcia: Genius In Love (Canceled)
Through the years, the entertainment industry has provided us with many entertaining sitcoms, such as Friends and How I Met Your Mother. With that said, one such show that recently found its way into the genre is Ashley Garcia: Genius in Love, previously titled The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia.
Although it only has one season, the show was released in two parts, with the first half premiering back in February 2020 and the last half a few months after. Despite its aim to provide audiences with more than a few good laughs, it didn’t garner much of a following throughout its 15-episode run, which ended with a Christmas special. As a result, Netflix executives decided to cancel plans of a new season and has since ventured on to other investments. Well, at least it’s still available on the streaming service, and that’s better than nothing.
Gentefied (Renewed)
More often than not, we enjoy stories that focus on characters we can easily relate to. One such show that surely achieved this with flying colors is Gentefied, a series revolving around three cousins hoping to make their dreams a reality. Like many journeys, however, this one was not without its challenges.
Its first season premiered on Netflix back in February 2020 and immediately received praise from viewers and critics. With that in mind, it comes as no surprise that executives decided to give the show another go, providing it with a season renewal just a few months after. With the season finale leaving viewers with a fairly open-ended conclusion, it’s safe to say that Gentefield’s cast and crew still have plenty of fuel in their gas tanks to keep this story going for who knows how many more seasons. In the meantime, though, fans can celebrate knowing that season two is just around the corner.
Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show (Canceled)
We all love to have a good laugh every once in a while, especially when after a day’s worth of work. To satisfy our funny bones, we often browse through the internet and search for hilarious anecdotes and jokes, but there’s also another go-to medium – comedy shows. Well, one such title that surely achieved this is Astronomy Club: The Sketch Show.
Although it only lasted for one season, Astronomy Club received a huge degree of praise from fans and critics – it even has a rating of 100% on the film and TV review website Rotten Tomatoes! Despite the positive comments, however, the show reportedly didn’t garner enough of an audience to convince Netflix executives it was worth renewing for a second season. With that in mind, it’s no wonder fans of the show went out of their way to create a petition to give Astronomy Club another chance. Here’s hoping it does get its well-deserved continuation soon.
Grace And Frankie (Final Season)
Since its earlier years, the entertainment industry has never failed to introduce us to numerous iconic figures, and two such names worth mentioning are Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. With both their careers spanning decades already, one of their more recent works is on the highly-acclaimed Netflix series, Grace and Frankie, where they have acting credits as the show’s titular leads.
After the first season’s premier back in 2015, the show received mixed reviews, but the positives surely outweighed the negatives. Since then, Grace and Frankie’s subsequent follow-ups garnered nothing short of praise. In fact, it even earned more than a few rewards and nominations along the way, some of which were for its two lead actresses. With the show’s upcoming seventh season being its final one, it’s safe to say that fans of the long-running comedy series will receive a satisfying ending, one that is wrapped all neatly and nicely.
Altered Carbon (Canceled)
The entertainment industry provided us with plenty of stories through the years, some of which take place in the present-day, others in a time before the discovery of electricity, and some that occur in a period that may or may not happen in the ever-approaching future. Well, one such title that tackles the latter is Altered Carbon. Based on the novel of the same name, the show is set in a world where technology is at its greatest, allowing people to modify themselves to their heart’s content.
With that said, the concept alone is already more than enough to get anybody interested. What keeps viewers hooked, however, is surely its intriguing crime and mystery elements, not to mention its lead star, portrayed by Joel Kinnaman in the first season and Anthony Mackie in the second. Despite its positive reviews, though, the show was reportedly too expensive to continue for another season, resulting in its unfortunate cancellation.
After Life (Renewed)
One way or another, almost everyone can recognize Ricky Gervais, a comedian who has taken credit for creating the mockumentary TV show, The Office. With that said, he’s also worked on other projects through the years and has hosted the Golden Globe Awards more than a couple of times. His most recent work is the widely-beloved dark comedy series, After Life, which he created, directed, produced, and writes for.
Although Ricky is known for entertaining people with comedy, the actor had the chance to incorporate a bit of drama into his performance in After Life, and the results are beyond excellent. After its first season’s premiere on Netflix back in March 2019, the show received widespread praise and recognition from viewers and critics. The show then maintained that success with its second season, and now fans are looking forward to its upcoming third season.
Genius Junior (Unconfirmed)
Like the previously-mentioned Ricky Gervais, Neil Patrick Harris is a well-known comedian packed with tricks under his sleeve. Since receiving worldwide fame and recognition for his role in the TV series How I Met Your Mother, Neil continued his career with other endeavors. In fact, like Ricky, he’s also had the chance to host a couple of awards ceremonies, though Neil’s was for the Tony Awards, the Primetime Awards, and the Academy Awards.
With that said, one project he’s spent his investment money on in recent years is Genius Junior, a game show he hosts and executively produces. The show revolves around kids grouped into two groups of three, competing in a set of challenges that tests each of their skills and – of course – their genius. Although its first – and so far only – season aired on NBC back in 2018, plans for Genius Junior’s follow-up season are still up in the air, but thanks to its positive ratings, chances are likely.
Dark (Final Season)
It’s rare for a show or series to end the way it’s supposed to, and a portion of that is due to the ever-changing circumstances that happen behind the scenes. Even so, these challenges left little to no impact on the surprise hit series, Dark. Before the show’s first season premiered on Netflix, Dark’s creators already developed a premise that was worth three seasons of storytelling! Well, we’re glad to say that they got to keep their plans unchanged and are finally concluding their project on its third and final season.
The plot revolves around the residents of a small fictional town called Winden, each of whom carries secrets as dark as the town’s history and potential future. It is a crime drama mixed with elements of science, particularly space and time. Dark has taken credit for keeping viewers and critics entertained since its first episode and it will surely deliver a much-awaited conclusion.
Merry Happy Whatever (Cancelled)
The holidays are supposed to be all about being happy and bonding with family members over eggnog while redecorating the house. With Merry Happy Whatever, though, holidays’ are the focus, resulting in a somewhat comedic effect. The sitcom ran for a total of eight episodes and featured Dennis Quaid as the patriarch of the family. He is described as rather controlling.
The sitcom drew lukewarm reception from the audience, getting a 6.3 rating from IMDb. Given the low degree of appreciation for the series, the creators decided to cancel it. Netflix announced in April 2020 that it would no longer renew the series for another season because it failed to get the necessary viewership and ratings. Fans, of course, were quick to defend the sitcom, saying it needed another chance. We are not saying there is hope, but if fans keep the pressure up, there might be a miracle.
October Faction (Cancelled)
If Supernatural were your thing, you would appreciate October Faction, a supernatural drama web series. It follows the adventures of a couple, Fred and Deloris, and their teenage children as they hunt down monsters in the wake of the death of Fred’s father. Secret societies, a sleepy town, and hunters are some of the story elements you would see in the series. It was designed to attract those who loved monster hunting, but it never really took off.
Viewers and critics took a dim view of its plotline, and it appears that there was very little return on investment from the series. It only received 29% from Rotten Tomatoes, which Netflix deemed as not acceptable. The series received the ax after only ten episodes over one season. IDW Entertainment would have to come up with a better and more engaging series so that there would be lesser cancellations of its shows.
Mortel (Cancelled)
Making a deal with the devil, or in the case of the two teenagers in Mortel, the voodoo deity Obe, is never a good idea. This series follows these two teenagers as they manipulate the actions of other people and read their minds. When the series hit Netflix in November 2019, it had great initial reception but was canceled two months after.
Some gave credit to the storyline, but other elements like the special effects were criticized. It received a 6.6 rating on IMDb. Meanwhile, Telerama claimed that the music failed, and the series was in the awkward position between a teen drama and a supernatural one. On the other hand, fans claimed it had the potential to be a fun web series, and giving it another go might be a good idea as the ratings could eventually catch on as the story develops.
No Good Nick (Cancelled)
What good could possibly come out of exacting revenge? No good. Well, at least that is what we can think of when a teenager poses as a relative to trick a family out of money. Obtaining personal loans would have been a better option than resorting to a scam. That is the premise of No Good, Nick, anyway. Finding the people you intend to defraud as kind and welcoming and then caring for them is the best wake-up call that one could ever receive.
It would have been good for this series to have continued so that we can see how it eventually pans out. With a lackluster rating, however — a 3 over 5 from Common Sense Media and a 5.9 from IMDb — the show had to go. It ran for a good 20 episodes with Sienna Agudong, Lauren Lindsey Donzis, Kalama Epstein, Sean Astin, and Melissa Joan Hart leading the cast.
Locke and Key (Renewed)
Giving off Narnia feels, Locke and Key is about a family who moves into a house, with the children finding keys that unlock various magical doors. There is no wardrobe, nor a lion, though, but demonic entities that are out to do their usual malevolent deeds. People usually love fantasy stories, and this series fits the bill.
The series has been rated R due to gore and violence, among others, but it has been received quite well by the audience. Perhaps because the storyline was written by the son of Stephen King? It was undoubtedly a factor. Critics also describe the characters as engaging and interesting. Some also said it is a perfect series to binge-watch given its right combination of comedy, horror, fantasy, and drama. So while paying for the gas and water bill, try starting the series as Netflix decided to renew it for another season!
Love Is Blind (Renewed)
Love has always been a profitable business, and this series, Love is Blind, is a testament to that. It is a dating reality series that premiered on Netflix on February 13, 2020. It has been compared to The Bachelor, although it differs on its basic premise. The contestants get to meet and engage with each other without actually seeing each other. Critics have described it as novel but rather depressing, as the eyes are the window to the soul — and they do not see eye to eye.
Netflix seems to favor the show as it has been renewed for two more seasons. Online casting and auditions are happening now for the show, with the third season premiering in 2021. Fans have also found fascinating the awkwardness of discussing love, marriage, mortgages, and proposals of marriage while talking to a wall. Well, creators argue that according to psychologists, bonding at an emotional level rather than physical can give more meaning to the relationship, so we will see.
Into the Night (Renewed)
This series received good reviews from viewers and critics alike. It belongs to the action-thriller genre, and its producers and executive directors have done an excellent job so far. Into the Night is about a group of people in a red-eye flight that a soldier hijacked. As it turns out, being in the plane kept them safe from the catastrophic and fatal sunlight. So they must keep the sun behind them and travel into the night while dealing with food, water, and even gas shortage.
Netflix was thrilled to renew the series for another season after fans globally welcomed it with open arms. When the first season was first announced, it was slated for early 2020 but was moved to May 2020, making fans excited even more. We can expect Season 2 to start towards the end of 2021 or early 2022.
Lucifer (Renewed)
What do you truly desire? That is the question that is mostly asked in the series, and fans answered, requesting to have Lucifer renewed for another season. Netflix picked up the show from Fox after the TV station canceled the show. It was supposed to end by Season 5, but with fans clamoring for another season, Season 6 was born. Tom Ellis’s charm certainly made its way to the audience.
Season 5 was divided into 2 parts, with Season 5B to be released soon. Those who made investments in the series, such as its directors and producers, are in for a big return, considering the cliffhanger the season ended on. Viewership is expected to rise for Season 5B and the upcoming Season 6. As it is, Rotten Tomatoes has already rated Season 5A an excellent 81%. Not bad for a show that had once been canceled.
Lost in Space (Renewed)
Lost in Space is a reimagining of the 1965 series of the same name, which follows the story of a family of space colonists whose spaceship has gone off course by a significant degree. The series was released on Netflix on April 13, 2018, and has now ended its second season. The third and final season will be released in 2021. The Robinsons are in for another ride to space.
This series has received mostly positive reviews from Rotten Tomatoes, with the ratings at 75%. The show continues to leverage expectations, but its appeal has mostly been for sci-fi fans. The characters also appear ordinary, with no nuance in their portrayals. Could this be seen as a weakness of the show? Perhaps. Many, however, consider it a light and entertaining watch. Children can also learn about problem-solving, so that is something that parents could also consider for their kids.
I Am Not Okay With This (Cancelled)
Who would not want to have superpowers, right? The series I Am Not Okay With This explores the life of a teenager with superpowers who is changing biologically as he goes through puberty. It is also the most challenging phase psychologically, and so many fans are able to relate to the series, especially the younger ones. Teen-angst, after all, is a very real phenomenon.
What is sad, however, is that the series has not been renewed for another season. It fell victim to the circumstances of 2020 and ran into budget issues. It’s not that nobody was willing to make an investment in the show, it’s just that the cost of producing the show was expected to be more than the return, so it was canceled. Fans were expectedly disappointed as it was loved by many, as evidence by the rating of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Never Have I Ever (Renewed)
If this sounds familiar, it should. It is a favorite drinking game that became a loved web series, after all. This coming-of-age show is partially based on Mindy Kaling’s life growing up in the Boston area. Race, for good or for ill, is a primary angle of the show. There is also a good mix of family struggle, comedy, love, and tragedy. Devi, the protagonist in the story, really just wants a boyfriend.
The good news is that we can follow the story as it unfolds because the series has been renewed for another season. Fans love the show because it features immigrant culture in a way that makes sense. The emotions are also, to some degree, very realistic, making the show more relatable to the audience. So yay for the team who created it, and we look forward to the next season.
Messiah (Cancelled)
We often wonder what would happen if Jesus were to walk the Earth again and see us today. Also, how would humanity react? Will they be afraid? All these are the questions the series Messiah was trying to answer. So far, CIA officers had to be involved, which means that there were some severe repercussions.
As with many other TV shows, 2020 pulled the plug on Messiah, potentially due to budget restrictions. The show has been given credit for making people think about how the world would react to a modern-day Messiah. The announcement to cancel the show was a blow to the fans who have rated the show a 7.6 on IMDb. When Will Mathers announced on Instagram that the show would not be renewed, the fans felt his sadness. Of course, everyone is hoping that another streaming service will pick it up–but we can only dream for now.
Next In Fashion (Cancelled)
Tan France and Alex Chung are absolutely stunning in the fashion design competition and reality show Next in Fashion. The reality series started in January 2020, with all 10 episodes coming out all at once. In essence, the show follows a group of fashion designers as they explore their capabilities and how to make it big in the industry. Each episode sees 18 contestants fight for one spot where the contestant would get a boost from the show, so there is no need for a business loan.
Sadly, for fashionistas aspiring to join the next season, a piece of bad news was dropped. Netflix decided to cancel the show entirely despite its high ratings from both Rotten Tomatoes and IMDb. France has revealed that the show was meant to be a one-season show and that a second one was not on the horizon. Considering the ratings, though, the show creators might want to rethink their decision.
Osmosis (Cancelled)
What if there is a way to find the perfect partner through a dating app? You will probably say that this is already a reality, with people swiping left and right–but what if artificial intelligence could be harnessed further? That is precisely the premise of Osmosis. It is scary, and because it’s set in a future France, users can expect to pay a steep price to use the technology.
Singularity, the human mind, and emotions seem to play a role in the series, and while it could be a very interesting watch, Netflix decided it was time for the series to go. It ran for a total of eight episodes, with critics saying that it has never found its footing. Fans, however, found it exciting as well as thought-provoking. With each episode amounting to $1.20 million, producers had wanted more return on their investment, but it appears they have not found it.
Longmire (Ended)
People have always loved a good crime drama series, and Longmire has delivered. When it premiered on the A&E Network in 2012, it instantly became a hit. Longmire was based on Craig Johson’s novels and was focused on the character of Walt Longmire, a sheriff in a fictional county in Wyoming. Investigating crimes in the county took much of the time of the series.
It received good reviews. Longmire was even given credit as the highest-rated drama series on A&E. The good ratings translated to 63 episodes over six seasons and two platforms. A&E had the series from 2012 to 2014. Netflix picked it up when it was canceled and kept the series alive until 2017. However, all good things must come to an end, and Longmire won’t be coming back for a seventh season as the plotline has already been exhausted.
Stranger Things (Renewed)
We could easily say that Stranger Things made Netflix popular, or maybe, it’s the other way around? What do you think? Due to its uber-high ratings, international acclaim, and credit reports, the show has been renewed for a fourth season! The science-fiction thriller series was created by Matt and Ross Duffer, who also serve as showrunners and executive producers. Sadly, the Duffer brothers have reported that the series is likely to end after season five.
Stranger Things has been recognized by multiple award-giving bodies and received six Primetime Emmy Awards out of the 39 nominations. It has also received praise for its characterization, acting, soundtrack, pacing, atmosphere, writing, directing, and homages to ’80s films. It stars Millie Bobby Brown, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Gaten Matarazzo, and Finn Wolfhard. The show, along with its cast members, immediately gained a fan base after its release.
Ozark (Renewed)
To those who are fans of the crime drama series Ozark, it’s time to rejoice! The show will be back for another season. The fan-favorite series will get a supersized fourth, albeit the final season, consisting of fourteen episodes instead of the usual ten. Created by Mark Williams and Bill Dubuque and produced by Media Rights Capital. As you may probably know, Dubuque is the screenwriter for such highly acclaimed films, including The Accountant and The Judge.
Ozark has received widespread reception from critics, praising its acting, writing, and directing. Additionally, the show went on to receive 32 Primetime Emmy Award nominations. It follows the story of a self-employed financial advisor who started laundering money for a Mexican drug cartel, only to find out that there are consequences to his actions. It stars Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Skylar Gaertner, and Sofia Hublitz.
Outer Banks (Renewed)
Created by Josh Pate, Shannon Burke, and Jonas Pate, the action-adventure drama Outer Banks premiered on Netflix on April 15, 2020. The streaming service company renewed the breakout series for a second season, and fans are patiently waiting for the remarkable comeback. The show stars Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Jonathan Daviss, and Madison Bailey.
Outer Banks follows a group of teens, called the “Pogues,” who are determined to discover what happened to their ringleader’s missing father. Hunted by law enforcers and the distinguished group called the “Kooks,” the Pogues are forced to overcome obstacles along their way, including love, friendship, fighting, and money management. The series won the People’s Choice Awards for The Bingeworthy Show of 2020. The lead actor, Chase Stokes, was also nominated twice by the same award-giving body. The show then garnered “generally favorable reviews” from Metacritic.
Sweet Magnolias (Renewed)
Based on the novel authored by Sherryl Woods, Sweet Magnolias is finally making its way to season two! The show premiered on the streaming service company Netflix on May 19, 2020, and has been renewed in July 2020. It stars JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Jamie Lynn Spears, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley. The series follows the lives of three South Carolina best friends who stood by each other through the complexities of professional career, family, and romance.
The romantic drama gained mostly positive reviews and was considered “one of the best-hidden gems in 2020.” It also spent over 30 days at the top US TV charts, peaking at number one. The show was developed by Sheryl J. Anderson, who is credited for her work on Charmed. Season one ended on a dramatic cliffhanger, so the audience will indeed be relieved when season two arrives.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Canceled)
The supernatural horror The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is based on the Archie comic series of the same name. The show is developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and produced by Warner Bros. Television in association with Berlanti Productions. It stars Kiernan Shipka, Ross Lynch, Chance Perdomo, and Lucy Davis, among many others. The production team probably hired a moving company since the show was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia. The first half of season one was released on October 26, 2018, and garnered positive reviews from both viewers and critics.
Critics even praised Shipka’s performance, as well as the directing, visuals, and premise. However, after two seasons (divided into four parts), Netflix canceled the show for God-knows-what reasons. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a dark coming-of-age story that involves horror and witchcraft. The lead character, Sabrina Spellman, is in pursuit of reconciling her dual nature as a half-mortal, half-witch— all while fighting the evil forces that surround her.
The Crown (Final Season)
The historical drama The Crown has also made waves in the entertainment industry since its launch in November 2016. True enough, Netflix has renewed the series for both a fourth and fifth season, with the fifth season being the last. It is principally written and created by Peter Morgan, and the plot centers on Queen Elizabeth II’s life and reign from the period of 1940s until the early 21st century. It stars Claire Foy, Vanessa Kirby, Matt Smith, Eileen Atkins, and Jeremy Northam.
The Crown has received critical acclaim and was given credit for its acting, writing, direction, cinematography, and production values. While there are some historical inaccuracies, particularly within the fourth season, it received accolades at the 23rd Screen Actors Guild Awards. It has also secured a total of 39 nominations at the Primetime Emmy Awards. The historical drama TV series also received “universal acclaim” from Metacritic.
Queer Eye (Renewed)
A decade after the original franchise went off-air, Netflix decided to reboot the reality television series Queer Eye with a new setting and a new Fab Five: Tan France, fashion expert; Karamo Brown, culture expert; Bobby Berk, design expert; Antoni Porowski, food and wine expert; and Jonathan Van Ness, grooming expert. These experts forge relationships with men and women who needed their advice. David Collins, the creator of the original show, also receives credits as an executive producer.
The reality show has been an international success and has garnered awards, including GLAAD Media Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Since its air, a total of 47 episodes have been released. The first two seasons were set in Georgia, while the next two seasons were in Missouri. Netflix has revealed that season five is in Philadelphia, while season six will be filmed in Austin, Texas.
Soundtrack (Canceled)
For reasons we don’t know, the musical drama Soundtrack had to end. The series creator, Joshua Safran, who was also given credit for being the writer and executive producer of the hit television series Gossip Girl, once revealed that he supposedly had plans for a second season. Sadly, Netflix had only allowed one season for the show and confirmed that there wouldn’t be a renewal. The series premiered on December 18, 2019, and by the following month, it was called off. Safran.
Soundtrack starred Paul James, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Callie Hernandez, and Jenna Dewan, among several others. The story revolves around various characters in a single neighborhood who later found a connection through music. To those who are curious why the musical show was canceled, the critics only gave the series an approval rating of 38%, which obviously indicates that it’s a major flop. One critic even commented, “its execution doesn’t meet its potential.”
Teenage Bounty Hunters (Canceled)
Teenage Bounty Hunters is a teen comedy-drama series created by Kathleen Jordan and executive produced by Jenji Kohan, Robert Sudduth, Blake McCormick, and Tara Herrmann. The show first premiered on August 14, 2020. However, Netflix canceled it two months after the show debuted in October. The series followed two fraternal twins named Sterling and Blair Wesley, who teamed up with a bounty hunter to bring in local criminals. It stars Maddie Phillips, Anjelica Bette Fellini, Virginia Williams, Kadeem Hardison, among many others.
The critics gave the show a B+ rating and described it as “winsome and well-crafted.” The website, Metacritic gave the show an average score of 72 out of 100 based, suggesting “generally favorable reviews.” While the show only received average ratings, Netflix opted not to renew it for the second season as part of its investment planning.
The Dragon Prince (Renewed)
Good news for fans of the animated series The Dragon Prince, Netflix decided to issue a multi-season renewal for the show! Currently, the show is on its third season, and has been extended for four more additional seasons, having nine episodes for each season. There are also reports that a video game in reference to the show is now in development. Fans and gamers alike surely can’t wait to try this one out!
The Dragon Prince is created by Aaron Ehasz and Justin Richmond, animated by Bardel Entertainment, and produced by Wonderstorm. The website Rotten Tomatoes reported that the first three seasons of the series received so much credit from all the critics. The fantasy series follows the story of half-brothers, princes Ezran and Callum, who are tasked to end a thousand-year-old conflict between the magical creatures of Xadia and the human kingdoms. In pursuit of their goal, they are also responsible for taking care of the infant dragon prince, Azymondias.
Patriot Act With Hasan Minhaj (Canceled)
Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj is a Netflix talk show hosted by Hasan Minhaj. It premiered on October 28, 2018, and ran for nearly two years. All the episodes are also being aired on the show’s YouTube channel. The series was created by Prashanth Venkataramanujam and Hasan Minhaj, both of whom are also executive producers. However, Netflix confirmed on August 18, 2020, that the talk show wouldn’t be back for its seventh season. With its 40 episode-run, the show has garnered accolades, including a Peabody Award, two Webby Awards, and an Emmy Award.
Minhaj shared he wanted to generate a show that is “timely and timeless.” Through the series, he aims to explore the modern issues of the world with “depth and sincerity.” For instance, on one episode entitled “Is College Still Worth It?” tackles whether a college degree is worth its value as tuition fees have greatly increased through the years.
The Big Show Show (Canceled)
In an attempt to create a new family sitcom that can bring wonders to each home, Netflix, however, had found The Big Show Show bland to the degree that they went as far as canceling it after just one season. The show starred professional wrestler Big Show, Reylynn Caster, Lily Brooks O’Briant, Allison Munn, and Juliet Donenfeld. It aired on April 6, 2020, and got axed four months later in August 2020. A review podcast and a comedic recap about the show were also launched.
The show revolves around a pro wrestler who recently retired from the sport and is adjusting to the recent changes in his family life, including his eldest daughter, who decided to move in with him. The sitcom was created by Jason Berger and Josh Bycel, with Bycel having worked as a writer/producer for Veronica’s Closet. By the way, did you know the family sitcom was produced by WWE Studios?
The Circle (Renewed)
Coming back to Netflix’s slate of reality competition shows is The Circle, which premiered on January 1, 2020. Even though the series was originally based on a British version, Netflix has also launched versions both in France and Brazil. On March 24, 2020, the streaming service renewed the show for two more seasons. So, whoever is a fan of this amazing series, you are in for a surprise! The second season is set to appear sometime in 2021. We are sure fans can’t wait for the upcoming second season!
The Circle is more of a social experiment wherein contestants are isolated in their own apartments with home security. It’s like Big Brother meets Catfish type of show, where everything is not as they seem. They can only communicate via a computer program called “The Circle.” Every so often, the participants are asked to rate their fellow contestants. Season one was hosted by Michelle Buteau and hailed Joey Sasso as the winner who brought home the grand prize worth $100,000. Tim Harcourt, the creative director, came up with the concept after wondering what a show would look like if people never met face-to-face.
Sex Education (Renewed)
The British comedy-drama Sex Education, created by Laurie Nunn, is up for another season. Whoever are big Otis and Maeve fans out there, you better ready your popcorn! The series debuted on January 11, 2019, and since then, it has become a critical and commercial success. Following its debut, over 40 million viewers streamed the first season. The show’s main cast members include Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, and Connor Swindells.
Sex Education revolves around the story of an insecure teenager, Otis, whose mom is a sex therapist. Learning from his mom, Otis puts up an investment in a sex therapy business in school to help his fellow students who are struggling like him. Rotten Tomatoes reported a thumbs up with an average rating of 8.13/10. One critic on the website also said that the show is “bawdy, heartfelt, and surprisingly wise.” The show was nominated for the National Television Award and TV Choice Awards.
Spinning Out (Canceled)
We hate to be the bearer of bad news for whoever is fond of this show, but Netflix confirmed that the figure skating drama Spinning Out wouldn’t return for a second season. The series is created by Samantha Stratton, and it premiered on New Year’s Day in 2020. However, after only a month, the streaming service decided to cancel the show. It followed the story of a young ice skater who suffered an injury from accidentally falling on the flooring, which took her off the competition track. Principal photography for the drama show took place in Toronto, Ontario.
Although Spinning Out was canceled, there was an outrage from the audience, who even started an online petition to save it. Nonetheless, Rotten Tomatoes only showed an approval rating of 63%, while Metacritic garnered an average score of 47 out of 100, suggesting “mixed or average reviews.” Spinning Out starred Kaya Scodelario, Willow Shields, Evan Roderick, and David James Elliott as the main cast.
The Rain (Renewed)
With a plot that sounds very timely to today’s occurrences, the series The Rain has been renewed for another season, and this time, it will be the last. In June of last year, Netflix already confirmed that there would be one final season from the series revolving around a really bad virus that is brought about by the rain. The series is set in Scandinavia and is focused on how the lives of the people in the region are affected by the disease.
The Danish drama series had eight episodes in its pilot season, followed by six episodes in the second season. The third season is advertised by a poster that says, “You can’t survive alone.” The show, in the light of present circumstances, really compels everyone to make sure their health insurance is in place so that things will turn out fine no matter what happens.
You (Renewed)
American psychological thriller TV series, You was supposed to be on Lifetime, but we think you already know that didn’t work out too well. However, the thriller series did so wonderfully well on Netflix that it got renewed for a third season. Starring Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley, the story revolves around a serial killer, Joe Goldberg, who also works as a local bookstore manager in New York City. Penn and Victoria Pedretti, his love interest in the show, are going to be around for the third season as well. We are pretty sure you are feeling pretty psyched for the psycho couple for the third season!
The creepy vibe of the series actually enticed a lot of viewers and because of that, another ten episodes are coming our way. You actually got credit for being one of Netflix’s top 10 most popular shows of 2019, reaching the fifth spot. That isn’t at all bad for a show that featured a stalker and his dysfunctional tendencies.
Tuca and Bertie (Canceled)
When there are dramatic series and romantic ones, there are also a couple of series that are animated but are meant for a mature audience. The adult animated series, Tuca and Bertie is one of those shows that should have been a hit. Unfortunately, when Netflix decided to cancel some shows back in 2019, unfortunately, this series was a part of that list.
The show only had one season, and it did not make the cut for a renewal. What’s even more devastating is that the show did not even have time to make a proper ending. Surely, fans weren’t delighted by the news they heard. A lot of them swipe their credit cards for a monthly subscription because they want their cartoons. They really got disappointed with what they have learned since fans wanted more episodes of the show. Interestingly, the voices behind the main characters were Ali.
The Society (Canceled)
When shows are great, they get renewed for a continuation, but sometimes, there are mixed reviews about it, so producers end up canceling them instead. Though there are people that would have liked the show to go on, critics would sometimes say otherwise, which is the case of the mystery teen drama TV series, The Society.
After only a season on Netflix, the series has been canceled even before the production of the series even got a chance to film its previously renewed season. It surprised a lot of people, especially since the last news of the series already confirmed another chapter in the story. They were set to start filming in March 2020, but because of the recent restrictions that have been going on, it was affected, and the management thought it would be safer to cancel the show. Even the insurance companies probably would have thought this was a better idea.
The Witcher (Renewed)
Period series set in the past have really been all the rage nowadays. Everyone seems to enjoy a good story with elements of the olden ages. The Witcher is one of those recent series, and its first season was a massive hit to all viewers. The series was based on a novel with the same name. Good news to Geralt of Rivia fans, it is reported back in the later part of 2019 that the series was renewed for a second season. This announcement was made only a month after the first season was released.
As per their schedule, the production should have filmed the second season in 2020 and is set to be released in 2021. With everything that is happening now, though, there is a good chance that the release will be delayed. It’s nice to know, though, that it is well on its way to the viewers. We all know that the degree of excitement when waiting for another season is one of a kind.
The Haunting of Hill House (Renewed)
Most times, our favorite TV shows are long stories that stretch from the pilot episode to the very last season. However, some other gems are anthologies, or different stories with the same theme within one series. This is what happened to The Haunting of Hill House.
Netflix has renewed it for another season but not as a continuation of the scary season 1. The series comes back as The Haunting of Bly Manor with a completely new tale and twist to the story.
The second season was based on the gothic novel The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. The same dramatic, thrilling and frightening scenes will be shown in the grounds of Bly Manor. From the gardens up to the roofing of the grand estate, the story will unravel and keep you engaged. Get your popcorn and movie-buddy ready because you’re in for a treat!
The Kominsky Method (Renewed)
The Kominksy Method is a series by Chuck Lorre, who’s also the co-creator of the TV sitcom The Big Bang Theory. The series has gained a lot of recognition and positive feedback from both viewers and even the strictest critics. In an interview with Variety, Chuck shared that the series has been a passion project for him and that he had such a great time working with it. It was a bittersweet moment when he announced that it would be renewed for the third season but that this was going to be the last.
The final season will still star Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin, of course. These two have contributed valuably to winning the credits in the Golden Globe Awards for the show. The final season is an exciting last chapter to the story, and though the waiting viewers are very eager to watch it, Chuck and his team are more than ecstatic to work on it.
The Last Kingdom (Renewed)
The hit series The Last Kingdom is based on the novels written by Bernard Cornwell named The Saxon Stories. It talks about the Saxon-born warrior’s escapades who’s raised as a Dane, Uhtred Bebbanburg, played by Alexander Dreymon. The story is set in ninth and tenth-century England. Uhtred has become the ally of King Alred of Wessex, who is played by David Dawson.
The dramatic series has been renewed for a fifth season, and this time, the story will be based on Cornwell’s ninth and tenth books entitled The Warriors of the Storm and The Flame Bearer, respectively. The announcement was made by the entire cast on their social media post. As the fourth season was still running, Netflix already decided to make an investment in the continuation of the story. It is reported that the next season will have ten new episodes.
Trinkets (Renewed)
Netflix has been getting feedback from both viewers and critics that they have been canceling shows way too early. They felt like the shows often deserve another chance and a longer storyline. In this next series, they made it very clear to the public that Trinkets would be renewed for a second and final season. Since the streaming giant was clear about it, they were able to give the series a proper ending, which we all can agree that every TV series should have and that writers had the chance to send their characters off well.
Unlike the rest of the shows that didn’t get that opportunity, Trinkets, at least, will get a chance to bid farewell. According to Kirsten Smith, the creator of the series, she loves the idea that the main characters in her story were going to be friends until the end of time. She and her team really worked on making a good ending for the series. For the viewers, it would be a wonderful closure as well. They definitely deserve credit for their efforts.
Warrior Nun (Renewed)
When some people feel particularly in touch with reality shows or dramas that they can relate to, others find comfort in fantastic plots they can find in supernatural series. The show Warrior Nun revolves around a 19-year-old girl who just wakes up in the middle of a morgue and discovers that she has powers. The series shows the journey that she goes through as she hones and discovers her newfound powers and what to do with them.
The story is based on Ben Dunn’s Manga series, and because the first season was such a hit, it was renewed for a second chapter. This announcement was announced by Netflix in its Twitter account, where they posted a video of Simon Barry, one of the showrunners of the series, telling the cast about the news. Their degree of excitement spilled over to the eager fans, of course!
White Lines (Canceled)
Some series are canceled because they aren’t compelling or engaging enough to the viewers. On the other hand, some other shows are just too overwhelming. White Lines was jam-packed with mystery, crime, and everything in between, but, unfortunately, the plot wasn’t enough to land it a second season on the streaming platform. Netflix canceled the series after its initial release, which made it available for three months.
The creator of the series, Alex Pina, is also known for creating Money Heist, another popular Netflix hit. One of the reasons that the show isn’t going to have another season despite getting good reviews is that the next season would require filming in multiple areas across Europe, and we all know that that logistical challenge would be a degree harder because of all the restrictions we have during the coronavirus pandemic, and also because the culprit has already been revealed during the series’ first season.
Turn Up Charlie (Canceled)
It’s really devastating whenever fans experience the cancelation of a series, which brings a whole new level of heartbreak to a lot of viewers. It hurts even more when the announcements about the cancelations are made pretty late, too. The next series on this list is Turn Up Charlie, a British comedy streaming TV series featuring Idris Elba. The story revolved around the actor trying to pursue his dreams of becoming a renowned DJ. While he was trying to make that come true, he decided to become a “manny” or a male nanny to the daughter of his best friend in the meantime to earn some investment money he could one day use in the future.
The decision not to renew the series came over a year after the first season was released. Though fans were expecting a second season, Netflix decided otherwise. In a heartfelt statement, they expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Idris, who used his own passions in life to write a comedy.
The Goop Lab (Renewed)
The Goop Lab docu-series that first premiered on Netflix on January 24, 2020, is all about Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle and wellness company, Goop, where she was also the executive producer and the host. The show has been called controversial by a lot of people because of its themes. It revolves around topics on lifestyle, intimacy, and personal affairs and has really gathered a huge degree of intrigue because it has been renewed for another season containing six 30-minute long episodes.
As expected, Gwyneth herself will still be one of the hosts and the executive producers of the show. She is really very open and generous about her experiences and wants to show her fans how she makes it big in her wellness endeavors. Surely, this will also serve as an inspiration to not only the viewers but also the younger celebrities who look up to her.
V Wars (Canceled)
Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder did not only do great in the series, but he did so exceptionally well that he landed role credit in a TV series that again involved the supernatural. V Wars talks about Dr. Luther Swann, who is played by Ian, a scientist who embarks on a journey of discovery and many horrors when his best friend gets ill and transforms into a creature that likes to feast on other human beings.
The sci-fi series really made an impact as it is very timely to the world’s situation nowadays. Ian even talked about it in an interview, saying that the things happening in the series reflect what is really going on in reality. Unfortunately, V Wars did not get a renewal, though. It seems that it did not make the cut with the producers, and they eventually decided that only one season was enough.
Valeria (Renewed)
Sometimes, themes are so powerful that there are different variations of them. They’re not always exactly the same, but versions of each other tend to complement each other on the market. Valeria, for one, has been given credit for being the Spanish version of Sex in the City. Though the series is actually based on the novels by Elisabet Benavent, a lot of fans liken it to the popular American series.
The story revolves around a writer who tries to do her best to maintain her marriage during a rough patch, and is aided by her best friends. The escapades that she is going through continues into season two as Netflix has decided to renew the series. During the next leg of the story, Valeria will decide whether or not she will have her book published with an alias. The star of the show, Diana Gomez, excitedly announced the renewal on her Twitter account.
Eli Roth’s History of Horror (Renewed)
Expect a huge backlash from fans if Eli Roth’s History of Horror is not renewed. Fortunately, AMC gave the show the green light for a third season after its successful two seasons. The third season of the show will consist of six one-hour-long episodes that will take viewers on a deeper dive into the genre’s eerie history. Expect to learn more about how horror managed to evolve over the past few decades once Eli Roth’s History of Horror airs again later in 2021.
It was obviously a no-brainer for AMC to renew the show for another season. After all, Season 2 of the six-episode star-studded series gets credit for reaching nearly six million viewers! The past season showcased some of the genre’s most formidable faces and storytellers, such as Jordan Peele, Stephen King, Bill Hader, Edgar Wright, Rachel True, and many more. Without a doubt, the stars that were brought on were able to reveal the various struggles and inspirations behind the genre’s growth over the past few decades.
The Weakest Link (Renewed)
“Glee” alum and star Jane Lynch will be returning as the host of NBC’s “The Weakest Link,” as it has been renewed for a second season, which will run for 13 episodes. Besides her hosting job, Lynch will also receive credit as the show’s executive producer. It was a no-brainer for NBC to bring back the classic game show as millions of fans loved it.
Lynch’s The Weakest Link will feature the same trivia contest dynamic wherein they pit contestants against each other while forcing them to work together at the same time. It sports several rounds, and at the end of each round, eight contestants must vote to eliminate a fellow contestant that they consider to be the “Weak Link” in the chain. The “Weakest Link” is the one who receives the highest votes, and Lynch utters the iconic phrase “You are the Weakest Link. Goodbye.” Each episode ends with one player remaining that has the opportunity to win the grand prize of up to $1 million.
Snowpiercer (Renewed)
“Snowpiercer” is given the green-light to continue for one more season. TNT must’ve liked the acclaim and attention that Snowpiercer was getting as it renewed the show just under a week before the launch of its second season. Considering that the first season debuted from May to July 2020, TNT’s investment planning for the production of the show is moving at a considerably swift pace. It’s undoubtedly a good decision as Snowpiercer continues to bring in profit from its high ratings.
The plot is set around seven years after Earth became a frozen wasteland. Snowpiercer places its focus on the remaining humans who are currently inhabiting a perpetually moving train, with 1001 cars, as it circles the entire globe. The show is a television adaptation of the graphic novel and 2013 movie of the same title. It stars Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connelly, Rowan Blanchard, Mickey Summer, Iddo Goldberg, Lena Hall, and several more. Expect them to reprise their roles for the second and third seasons.
Brooklyn Nine Nine (Final Season)
The widely acclaimed television show “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is once again coming to an end. The show was a former Fox comedy, and it was NBC who previously saved it from cancellation after its sixth season. So, whoever are fans of B99, we have NBC to thank for the upcoming season. The comedy show has been running for seven seasons, and it has been renewed for an eighth and final season. According to Entertainment Weekly, the final season of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” will consist of 10 episodes, and it’s expected to air in the fall of 2021.
The show premiered back in 2013 on Fox, where it received critical acclaim and accumulated a cult audience along the way. Brooklyn Nine-Nine features Andy Samberg in his credit role of “Jake Peralta,” along with Andre Braugher, Melissa Fumero, Terry Crews, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Lo Truglio, and many more. It’ll certainly be interesting to see them reprise their roles one more time and give the series a proper ending! We surely can’t wait for the next Halloween Heist!
A.P. Bio (Renewed)
The comedy series “A.P. Bio” just got renewed, and it’s getting its fourth season on PeacockTV. A.P. Bio first premiered on NBC for two seasons until NBC decided to cancel the show. Peacock, through its thorough and careful investment planning, felt that the show had a decent following of fans and audience that it can capitalize on. Like its third season, season four of A.P. Bio will consist of eight episodes, and it’s expected to air in late 2021.
The series features It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia alum Glenn Howerton as “Jack Griffin,” a disgraced philosophy scholar from Harvard. He lost out on the opportunity of getting his dream job, and is forced to return to his hometown Toledo, Ohio, to work as a high school biology teacher. This series also features recognizable actors like Patton Oswalt, Lyric Lewis, Jean Villepique, Mary Sohn, and Paula Pell, who’ll all be reprising their roles for seasons three and four.
Charmed (Renewed)
CW recently issued its plans to renew its “Charmed” reboot for another season. The show draws inspiration from the iconic 1998 series of the same name. It will be coming back for a fourth season, despite a slight dip in viewership from its recent episodes. Charmed averaged a 0.10 rating in the age group between 18 to 49 and almost 440,000 viewers. We’re assuming that a small broadcast network did some thorough investment planning upon deciding to renew the show. Fortunately for fans, they eventually decided on renewing the series and will be giving us another great season!
The series reboot stars Melonie Diaz with Madeleine Mantock, Sarah Jeffery, Poppy Drayton, Jordan Donica, and Rupert Evans. Charmed follows three sisters who find out that they’re witches in the wake of their mother’s untimely passing. They eventually stand together to harness “The Power of Three” and protect the Earth from various enemies plotting to destroy the planet. Watching the show, you’re bound to get a few nostalgic hits every now and then. After all, it’s directly based on the 1998 television show that we all loved!
Last Man Standing (Final Season)
Fox renewed Tim Allen’s comedy sitcom “Last Man Standing” for its ninth and final season. The new season of Last Man Standing is its third season on Fox as its first six seasons previously aired on ABC. One could say that it was the right decision for Fox to make the series’ ninth season its final season as its ratings have been down. Expect to see the ninth and final season of Last Man Standing in 2021, and it will consist of 21 episodes.
The series will have aired a total of 194 episodes by the time its final season is finished, which is an amazing show to binge watch since it has almost 200 episodes, right? The show premiered back in 2011, where it featured Tim Allen, Hector Elizondo, Amanda Fuller, Nancy Travis, Christoph Sanders, and many more. The show revolves around Tim Allen’s credit role of “Mike Baxter,” as he deals with the day-to-day stress of being the director of marketing for a sporting goods store. The series gained a ton of audience throughout the years, and we’re happy to see Tim Allen end his comedy sitcom on his own terms.
Bridgerton (Renewed)
Netflix is renewing its hit drama series “Bridgerton,” and it’ll definitely be back for more episodes. Netflix gave the green-light for a second season of Bridgerton, which draws inspiration from Julia Quinn’s critically acclaimed books of the same name. The first season of the series was a massive success as it garnered record-breaking ratings and viewership. It also received positive reviews from both audiences and critics, making it a no-brainer to renew for more seasons.
The story of Bridgerton takes us into London’s high society during the Regency era. The series is filled with drama, intrigue, romance, and a steady diet of very steamy scenes! Bridgerton’s cast comprises big names such as Rege-Jean Page, Phoebe Dynevor, Claudia Jessie, and Julie Andrews! Expect to see them reprise their credit roles for the second season as production is set to begin in the spring of this year. Fans surely can’t wait for the upcoming season!
High Maintenance (Canceled)
High Maintenance joins the list of HBO shows that will be coming to an end. The show aired for four seasons, and HBO officially confirmed that the series has “puffed and passed” during its finale last season. The creators of the series Katcha Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair, have also decided to call it quits and take a break from producing the show to pursue other projects. HBO seems to be working closely with the pair as they recently said that they are looking forward to hearing what Sinclair and Blichfeld come up with next.
The show originally premiered as a web series back in 2012, and it was in 2016 when HBO decided to pick it up for a half-hour, six-episode season. Once it started airing on HBO, High Maintenance received positive and rave reviews from both fans and critics. It also garnered a decent following of fans and audience throughout its first four seasons. With its fifth and final season looming, it’ll certainly be interesting to see how this show’s final credits will unfold.
Saved by The Bell (Renewed)
Bayside High is back, and it’s renewed for another season. Streaming platform Peacock renewed Saved by the Bell for a second season consisting of ten episodes. The show takes inspiration from the iconic ’90s NBC television show, and it focuses on the students at a school in Los Angeles. The revival casts Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Tiffani Thiessen, Lark Voorhies, and even Mario Lopez, and they’ll all be returning for the second season!
Peacock has recently been on a string of putting together good investment planning on renewing its shows. It renewed a fresh new take on the classic 90s sitcom together with A.P. Bio. It surely was a no-brainer for Peacock to renew Saved by the Bell as the comedy received critical praise and positive reviews. Executive Producer Tracey Wigfield certainly did an exceptional job for the first season of Saved by the Bell, and we can’t wait for what she has in store for season two!
Animal Kingdom (Final Season)
The TNT drama series “Animal Kingdom” from executive producer John Wells is coming to an end. Ahead of its fifth season, TNT officially renewed the drama series for a sixth and final season. Season five received several delays in production due to the lockdown, and it’ll air this coming summer of 2021. With this fact, season six should drop the following year in the summer of 2022.
Since its premiere in 2016, Animal Kingdom has continuously received credit for being one of TNT’s top performers. The show certainly had a good five-year run so far as it was also a top 10 cable drama among the 18 to 49 age demographic. It’s also one of TNT’s last remaining scripted original television shows, and it stars Shawn Hastosy, Finn Cole, Leila George, Ben Robson, Rigo Sanchez, and Jon Beaver. Expect these stars to reprise their role for the sixth and final season.
Queen Sugar (Renewed)
OWN renewed “Queen Sugar” for not just one but two more seasons. Ahead of its fifth season’s premiere on February 16, OWN, through its thorough and careful investment planning, opted to double down on the critically acclaimed drama series. Things are certainly moving at a fast pace for Queen Sugar as the sixth season will air later this year. With it being renewed for two more seasons, Queen Sugar now hold the title for being the longest-running scripted show on OWN.
The drama is set in the rural areas of Louisiana and in the fictional town of St. Josephine. Queen Sugar draws its attention to the Bordelon siblings’ trio, played by Rutina Wesley, Kofi Siriboe, and Dawn-Lyen Gardner, together with their extended family. Season four saw a finale that was incredibly political and emotionally charged. With this fact, expect things to escalate and become even more interesting for the upcoming seasons.
Walker (Renewed)
If you’ve happened to patronize the CW network over the past few years, you’d know that it’s home to numerous dramatic and action-packed television shows. Many of CW’s shows developed dedicated fanbases, and one of them is its freshman series, Walker. The CW network opted to renew Walker for another season as Jared Padalecki will reprise his role as “Texas Ranger Cordell Walker” once again. It was certainly a no-brainer for The CW to renew the show for another season as the first season saw massive success. Interestingly, it was The CW’s most-watched premiere in five years!
The CW must’ve felt strongly about the reviews and performance of Walker. Besides being renewed for another season, CW also opted to extend the current season from 13 episodes into 18 episodes. Fans will certainly enjoy the 5-episode extension before they can get their hands on the second season, which is set to air in late 2021 or 2022.
Riverdale (Renewed)
Prepare for another round at Pop’s! Riverdale just got renewed, and it’ll be coming back for a sixth season on The CW. The CW has amped up its investment planning, and it has been making some big moves by renewing some of its critically acclaimed shows. The list includes Riverdale, and executives at the network must’ve concluded that Riverdale has a dedicated and loyal fanbase that they simply can’t ignore! In case you haven’t been paying attention, Riverdale is a modern take on the classic characters from Archie Comics and is currently on its fifth season on The CW.
Fans of the show will, unfortunately, need to wait for the sixth season. The production experienced massive delays over the past year due to the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. The fifth season of Riverdale was so delayed that it premiered just recently. Reports say that season 5 will consist of 22 episodes, which should be more than enough for fans to consume before the sixth season arrives in 2022.
Blue Bloods (Renewed)
CBS made an aggressive move by renewing most of its lineup for the 2020-2021 season, one of which is the Tom Selleck-led Blue Bloods. With its renewal, the show is guaranteed a twelfth season, with its 11th season recently premiering back in December. It’ll certainly be interesting to see Tom Selleck renew his credit role in the long-running drama. It was reported that he made the push for CBS to give the show an eleventh and twelfth season! Without a doubt, CBS executives listened to the acting icon as he’s clearly sticking around!
The eleventh season of Blue Bloods is currently averaging a 0.52 rating in the age demographic of 18 to 49. It also currently has 6.50 million viewers and, compared to season 10, is a decrease by 15%. It’s definitely interesting to see if the ratings manage to climb back up now that it’s locked for another season.
Fate: The Winx Saga (Renewed)
It’s about a group of fairies attending a magical school, so it’s impossible to not get excited about the fantasy surrounding the show. Indeed, the premise alone seemed promising. Fate: The Winx Saga brought this exact feeling to people around the world. With its theme and concept, we expected to see a lot of villains and magic. Plus, the trailer speaks a lot about the first few episodes of the first season as well. When the show finally came out, expectations weren’t crushed. It was a fresh series with fresh faces.
No wonder it is being renewed for a second season. The renewal was announced just a few weeks ago but fans are already waiting anxiously for it. All credit goes to the unique storyline, the characters’ mysterious sides, and the cast’s acting — because of these factors, the show went beyond expectations.
Mom (Final Season)
It is impossible not to love a show with both Allison Janney and Anna Farris in it. Mom has been entertaining us for almost eight years now. Unfortunately, after Farris exited the show, it wasn’t long before the show got the proverbial ax. The TV show surrounding moms of all strengths and types will come to an end after season 8.
There were rumors last month that the show will have a few more episodes in season 9 before they end it altogether. Whether it’s season 8 or 9, we will surely miss the cast, who were so perfect for their roles. When our shows today are all about fantasy, romance, or the apocalypse, it’s nice to have a little bit of difference — it’s almost a diversion. The writers and casting crew clearly put a lot of effort, time, and investment into choosing the right fit for each role and scene.
Helstrom (Cancelled)
Helstrom is one of those shows with a trailer that makes you think you can actually guess what’s going to happen next. But the fact is, by the time you are done watching, you realize it wasn’t at all what you were expecting. To give you a brief introduction, the show is about two kids whose parents were serial killers. Now, they have a task of their own for humanity. It was first released on Hulu in October of 2020. Unfortunately, the show faced its final course and is being canceled.
There is a funny story behind the show. The producers apparently made a huge investment in the show, something they didn’t expect to do, but, from the looks of it, it was all worth it in the end. Putting together a TV show no matter the outcome is already a huge success — and a big deal. Plus, it can be re-watched by its biggest fans, forever.
Utopia (Cancelled)
With fresh faces and fresh perspectives for the writers and makers, Utopia brought mystery by introducing an interesting new world. It is a black comedy that originally aired for Amazon. It is British, fun, and thrilling at the same time. Seriously, it’s a dream show. Unfortunately, not everyone became a fan of the concept, so the show came to an end. The show’s final episode aired in the first season due to financial constraints.
All credit goes to the hard work and determination of the main cast, this TV series looked very high-end and top-notch no matter what some critics have said. This was one of those shows that viewers watched without a second thought. Many didn’t appreciate the show’s premise, and, to be sure, the plot was a drag at times, but we kinda liked it. They don’t need another season, though, since one is enough.
The Kelly Clarkson Show (Renewed)
Kelly Clarkson is one of the most successful singers of her time. She is among the most successful alumni of the reality singing competition, American Idol, along with Gabby Barrett and Carrie Underwood. So, when Hollywood confirmed that there would be a talk show under the award-winning singer’s name and that she will be hosting it, the world got a mix of emotions. She opened her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, soon enough. Just when fans thought Kelly was limited to singing, she showed the world yet another talent.
The singer-songwriter, TV personality, and reality talent search judge, received a lot of doubts at first. However, she proved to all that she’s the full package since she is also great at hosting. She was later on given credit for the show’s success. The show was renewed for two more years, which means we’ll be seeing more of Clarkson in the future.
Transplant (Renewed)
Transplant is a medical drama that centers on the life of a charismatic Syrian doctor. In a way, it represents the life of an immigrant as well as that of a struggling doctor. It first aired in February of 2020 and was followed by many great reviews from critics. We guess people really love medical drama. The show didn’t just get renewed for a season 2, a few minor characters introduced last season were promoted to the main cast and can be expected to have more consequential roles in the next season.
It is not just the actors, it’s also the crew of the show who deserves credit for the show’s success. It’s not every day that a group of people can work together and create a series this good. Indeed, we’re excited about next season — hopefully, it manages to be at least as good as the first.
One Day At A Time (Cancelled)
One Day At a Time is a four-season family sitcom based on the 1975 show of the same name. Getting four years on TV is already a big deal, especially for remakes since they are often compared to the originals. Unfortunately, there’s only so much that the show can do. The show ended in 2020 after its 4th season. The cast and crew were devastated by the fact since they’ve apparently grown so close to each other. Unfortunately, some good things come to an end earlier than we’d like, and this show was no exception.
All credit goes to the show’s cast and crew for what they’ve been able to achieve — they have proven the value and worth of their show. In any case, what’s certain is that this won’t be the last time we’ll be seeing these talented individuals on screen. If anything, the show was able to bolster their careers.
The Expanse (Renewed)
The Expanse is a sci-fi TV series that ran for 5 seasons. It incorporated futuristic themes and had an interesting premise overall. Set a hundred years in the future, the series showed us the human race taking over Mars and other planets in the solar system. Mars and Earth later went into conflict with other planet-states that were out to destroy humans. All the drama eventually exposed the greatest conspiracy in human history. This show is also known for having left fans befuddled about the ending. The showrunners are not giving up just yet on the show, telling sources that there’s always room for a season 6.
This show put out just the right amount of investments in the beginning. Then, they slowly invested more as time went by. Fortunately, their hard work and budget became didn’t go to waste — it all went to success. For whatever reason, this show can go on forever in our hearts.
The Handmaid’s Tale (Renewed)
It is always a delight to see Elisabeth Olsen act — on screen, on stage, or anywhere else for that matter. The award-winning acting and the engrossing story were what made this show doubly great. This book-based TV series revolves around the lives of women. Olsen’s acting really shines here, and she deserves a ton of credit for being able to flawlessly portray her character, who is a determined mother and a fighter.
In season 4, fans concocted different theories regarding some of the major characters of the show. However, one thing that the trailer was able to guarantee is that it will be an action-packed season. The title itself, which seems very original, drew people in deeper to the show. Indeed, There are only a few shows on TV that we can recommend completely unreservedly, and The Handmaid’s Tale is one of them.
For All Mankind (Renewed)
A movie set in another galaxy or planet is interesting enough. This time, however, we’re given the pleasure of a TV show that features both outer space and an alternate history of the world. It is like a dream come true for people of any age, any gender, or any status. For All Mankind started its first season in 2019. The TV show is now in its second season. It was reported that this was one of the shows that elevated Apple TV’s streaming credentials to be on par with Netflix’s.
The show continues to get bolder, with massive leaps being taken along the way. The second season is highly anticipated and fans are sort of obsessed about it. All credit goes to the show’s creators for coming up with such an interesting concept — the show reached major success indeed.
Servant (Renewed)
M. Night Shyamalan is the king of mystery thrillers and sci-fi. Servant is currently on its second season and every time an episode is broken down in front of our very eyes, we can’t help but be pleased. After the final episode of the first season, the director and creator of the show instantly announced plans for a second season. The show centers on the life of a married couple that is having trouble with their marriage because of forces that came into their home. It was released on Apple TV and stars Rupert Grint. There is seriously no reason to not watch the show.
This show is widely known for its investments. After all, it looks like it had an extremely high budget, and the directors, producers, and screenwriters should be proud of how it all turned out. They seem to have a huge success in their hands.
Criminal Minds (Cancelled)
Criminal Minds centers on the lives of FBI agents in the BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit). In order for them to catch the bad guys, they need to think like one. Every episode is a new scenario. The show was canceled after its 15th year, not because of financial constraints or a lack of viewers but because a majority of the actors said they’re getting too old for their roles. The show’s finale brought out a lot of emotions from their solid fan base. They were beloved for more than a decade and not many shows had that opportunity.
Paget Brewster, Joe Montegna, Shemar Moore, Thomas Gibson, Daniel Henney, Adam Rodriguez, A.J. Cook, Kristen Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, and Matthew Gray Gubler are the main actors of this 15-year show. They not only did remarkable jobs as actors, but they also helped each other on set instead of taking credit for themselves. The good news is that this FBI drama is coming back on Paramount and the production is being discussed at this very moment.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Renewed)
There has been some debate as to whether this 14-year show is being canceled or renewed. They did not just get renewed, they are being renewed for at least another 4 years! It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a very popular sitcom, which, by the time it ends, will be one of the longest-running sitcoms in history with a total of 18 years! It centers on 5 underachieving adults who later plotted against each other.
All of the show’s investments were wisely put, and in return, it was wisely recovered.
The TV show reached its highest number of viewers during its first season. IASIP is one of those shows that don’t need to defeat every single show it’s up against. It has its own mission and it doesn’t have too much on its shoulders. The main aim is for people to have fun and relate to the characters and storyline. This is probably why the show is so successful.
The Walking Dead (Final Season)
The Walking Dead is one of the most popular TV series of this generation. The show started in 2010 and reached its peak somewhere around 2014. The story revolves around the life of a sheriff who was in a coma, only to wake up to a post-apocalyptic zombie invasion.
The creator and founder of the show knew exactly how trendy zombies were in 2010. In this hit TV series, zombies are called “walkers,” which was very original. It was also one, to some degree, of the ideas that piqued viewer interest.
The show is one of the longest-running TV shows of all time, but it will finally bid farewell in the year 2022. The good news is that you have two more seasons to binge watch, in case you haven’t had enough of Norman Reedus, a.k.a. Daryl Dixon, yet.
Woke (Renewed)
Woke is a comedy TV series featuring the beautiful Rose McIver. It first aired on Hulu, and the show focuses on the life of an African American cartoonist. He was in the middle of getting the success he always dreamed of until some of his ideas challenged him. Because of his fresh outlook, the show became so relatable for individuals who want to be heard and want to make a difference. The show was renewed for a season 2!
Whoever came up with the title of the show should be given credit. The title of the show comes from a word that’s very relevant in this day and age. Woke is blunt and simple — not to mention, straight to the point. We’re guessing that a lot of brainstorming was done to come up with a title, but “woke” won and we’re glad that it did.
Archer (Renewed)
Fans of the Archer series, listen up! Archer is coming back to FXX for its 12th season this 2021. Your favorite gang will make you go up and down with thrill again as Archer comes back from a coma. Archer is an animated spy-based series made by Adam Reed. The series is about Sterling Archer and his group of dysfunctional agents called the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS). Sterling Archer, the lead character of the story, is voiced by H. Jon Benjamin.
The rest of the cast is voiced by Lucky Yates, Jessica Walker, Amber Nash, Aisha Tyler, Judy Greer, Chris Parnell, and Adam Reed. The series first aired in March 2009 on the FX channel. It was transferred to FXX for its 8th season in 2017. When the series was released, it got warmly received. The show, to its credit, eventually went into syndication. The show airs on several channels such as Comedy Central and Viceland. It also streamed on Hulu and Amazon Prime in 2014.
Arrow (Ended)
The TV series Arrow started its run in 2012. For almost a decade, the series was getting high ratings, all thanks to the DC fans who supported the show from day one. Oliver Queen, played by the actor Stephen Arnell, was perfect for the role. He played the vigilante by night, Green Arrow. The main cast who made the show great include David Ramsey, Katie Cassidy, Willa Holland, Colton Hayes, and Caity Lotz. The show ended after the 8th season’s final episode in January 2020.
Arrow executives were the ones who confirmed last March 2020 that it will not be coming back for the 9th season. Though a lot of fans were sad about the news, a spin-off series entitled Green Arrow and the Canaries was announced. The show is apparently already in the works and it will soon hit the air. It wasn’t announced where it will air, but we are sure that it will, to some degree, be as exciting as the original, and will be filled with crossovers.
Filthy Rich (Canceled)
A lot were shocked when the show Filthy Rich got canceled on its 5th episode. The pilot of the show aired in September 2020 on The Fox channel. A month after, in October 2020, it was announced that the show got canceled but that the show will still air its remaining episodes. Kim Catrall, a Sex and the City original cast member was the one who led the show. She plays Margret Monreaux, the matriarch of a wealthy family who owns an evangelical broadcasting network.
She is on the run to keep the money within her control after the accidental demise of her husband, Eugene Monreaux (played by Gerald McRaney), and the revelations that came along with his death. Despite that Filthy Rich had a good lineup of characters and an interesting plot, it didn’t reach the expected degree of success, leading to its cancellation. The show aired its 10th and final episode in November of 2020.
The Good Place (Ended)
Michael Schur, to his credit, did it again. The creator of Parks and Recreation released the fantasy TV series, The Good Place, in 2016. The Good Place stars Kristen Bell, who plays Eleanor Shellstop, the lead character of the show, who gets into a Good Place and causes chaos on her first night. Wanting to remain in the so-called heaven, she tries to hide her real identity and seeks help from her soulmate, Chidi, who is played by William Jackson Harper.
Things get twisted when she finds out that the monk, Jianyu Li, and his soulmate, Tahani Al-Jamil, were not supposed to be in The Good Place. A series of events finally reveals that they are in the Bad Place. The show got positive reviews from viewers and critics alike for tackling arguments about how hard it is to live and be good according to the moral standards of the day. The show ended its fourth season in January of 2020.
Castle Rock (Canceled)
In 2018, Hulu released the Castle Rock TV series. Castle Rock is a psychological horror-mystery series based on the setting of Stephen King’s fictional novels. King’s novels served as the inspiration for the show’s characters and plot. For its first season, Henry Matthew Deaver took the lead. Portrayed by Andre Holland, Deaver is a lawyer who went back to his hometown to solve the mysteries of both his past and present. Bill Skarsgard played The Kid — the root and key to all the terror in town. Cast members include Sissy Spacek, Jane Levy, and more. The second season featured Lizzy Caplan as the nurse who got stuck in Castle Rock. She is joined by Paul Sparks, Tim Robins, and Matthew Alan, to name a few.
Apparently, Castle Rock stayed on-air for two seasons despite its good ratings and high-critical acclaim. People were left wondering what made the producers pull the plug. The answer is that it was planned from the start that the series would last for only two seasons. Producers of the show further explained that the storyline might cause conflict with other adaptations of the story, and they wanted to avoid such a thing at all costs.
Siesta Key (Renewed)
Following the hit reality series, Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, MTV came up with a new coming-of-age semi-reality show, Siesta Key. The show premiered in 2017, and its main cast members are Juliette Porter, Alex Kompothecras, Madison Hausburg, Kelsey Owens, Garett Miller, and Brandon Gomes. Set on the sands of Florida’s Siesta Key beach, the young adults deal with everyday issues about family, relationships, and friendship.
The show ran for three seasons and the executives of the show announced that the fourth season will air in 2021. The degree of popularity it had among young viewers was high, and the show proved very profitable for MTV. Likewise, people can’t help but be hooked on the drama. As such, people were asking if Alex will be back next season. Clearly, this was another hit for MTV, so we’re not really surprised the show got renewed.
Homeland (Ended)
Claire Danes, the lead star of Homeland, bid farewell to the show’s viewers as the show aired its finale in April of 2020. Homeland, a political thriller series created by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, is based on the Israeli drama, Prisoner of War. The series first aired in 2011 on Showtime. The story revolves around a CIA agent (played by Danes) who is trying to prove that Nicolas Brody, a former US Marine held captive by al-Qaeda, had been turned and is spying on them.
The series, to its credit, gained positive reviews from critics. Likewise, the finale left its patron hanging. It didn’t lack the essence of a good ending, but it raised more questions than it answered. As a result, people want more. Sadly, it is not going to happen as the show was only made to run for 8 seasons.
This Is Us (Renewed)
This Is Us was renewed for a 5th season in October 2020 with the promise of more seasons to follow. This Is Us is a family drama with a hint of romance that got an approval rating of 93% after its 1st season. The show focuses on the life of the Pearson family. This Is Us casts Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, and Justin Hartley as the lead characters.
Initially, the show was planning to air on Fox, but after worries about the show’s ability to attract viewers came out, it was eventually sold to NBC. NBC believed that the show had potential and would get a sizable audience. This Is Us releases 18 episodes per season. It started its first season in 2016, and now they are on their 5th season. Viewers fell in love with the story, and it’s no wonder that the show earned several credits and accolades. Interestingly enough, the show became a franchise and local versions of the show were made for other countries.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show (Renewed)
The Ellen DeGeneres Show has seen a lot lately. From the chaos brought by the events of 2020 to the controversies the host faced, the show managed to weather all adversities. Now on their 18th season, the show faced another setback — they paused production due to the inability of Ellen DeGeneres to continue at the time. It was because she got sick and needed to recover. Good thing that the show was able to pick up its pace in January of 202. Despite all that happened, the show is doing well based on the relevant viewer ratings and financial reports.
The day-time comedy talk show has been on the airwaves since 2003. The show got high ratings because of its hilarious segments and laudable performances. As a result, the show earned a lot of accolades and even surpassed The Oprah Winfrey Show in terms of awards.. As initially announced, the show will continue airing until 2022.
E! News (Canceled)
After 30 years of dominating the Hollywood scene, E! News has now announced they’re not returning. The show started in 1991 but had to shut down in March 2020. Unfortunately, they have no plans of getting back on air because they got canceled in August 2020. In January 2020, before the cancellation, the show introduced new hosts as it moved from its Los Angeles studio to New York. Apparently, it was not only E! Who got canceled.
Even In the Room and Pop of the Morning got the proverbial axe. It is clear as sky that NBCUniversal’s financial reports are feeling the effects of 2020. To be honest, we’re pretty bummed about E! News getting canceled since it’s always been our go-to for celebrity news. Hopefully, another show with the same format takes its place since the market for celebrity news is unlikely to fade away.
Billions (Renewed)
The TV series Billions revolves around the nasty world of finance and business. The show is led by Damian Lewis, who plays Bobby Axelrod, and Paul Giamatti, who plays Attorney Chuck Rhoades. The story began when Axelrod, a billionaire hedge fund manager, was being investigated by Rhoades for illegal trading. As their rivalry heats up, what was supposed to be work turns personal. Billions’ pilot episode aired in January 2016. It has now completed its fifth season. Despite the show’s halt last year, it was announced that it will return for another season in 2021.
The show hasn’t started filming for season six as the production was put on pause. As to when the show will continue, no definite date had been announced. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that a new season is indeed in the works, because that last season was littered with cliffhangers.
Kids Say the Darndest Things (Canceled)
The TV show, Kids Say the Darndest Things, is a comedy talk show that started in 1998. It was hosted by the legendary actor and comedian Bill Cosby when it started. The show basically features a host who interviews kids who say silly things that eventually get viewers to burst out in hearty guffaws. The degree of its success and popularity was well-measured, and the show was syndicated to several countries.
The show ended in 2000 but got revived in 2019 with Tifanny Haddish as the new host. Apparently, in January 2020, just a year after its pilot, the management of the ABC network announced the cancellation of the show. It was later picked up by CBS, who announced the show is slated to air in 2021. Despite moving to its new home, the show will keep its trademark format – a live audience will be present, and pre-recorded clips will be played during the show.
Ted Lasso (Renewed)
Bill Lawrence and Jason Sudeikis have made a good investment in Ted Lasso, the spin-off character from the promo material of NBC’s Premier League. Ted Lasso came to life in Apple TV+ in August 2020, with a three-episode test run. It was followed by a season 2 that aired in October 2020. Now, after ten episodes, the show is coming back for its third run in 2021.
The titular role is played by Jason Sudeikis and the cast includes Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, and Phil Dunster. The show is about an American football coach, Ted Lasso, who was hired to manage AFC Richmond, a Premier League football team in England. He accepts the challenge only to find himself struggling with life in a foreign country. As per its last episode, Lasso is close to improving the team. Likewise, he also seems to be improving his relationship with Rebecca, the owner of the team.
Brave New World (Canceled)
Brave New World is another TV series that had been deeply affected by the events of 2020. It was announced in October 2020 that the show got canceled after its season 1 finale. The sci-fi series aired in Peacock streaming and released its pilot episode in July 2020.
Among the cast of Brave New World are Alden Ehrenreich, Demi Moore, Jessica Brown Findlay, and Harry Lloyd. The show is about a city that found ultimate harmony and peace in the absence of dividing factors.
However, the utopia started breaking down following the arrival of an outsider. The plot of the story is credited to Aldous Huxley — the author of the novel, Brave New World. Among the factors that contributed to its cancelation was the ratings of the show. Though it is one of the major shows that Peacock released in 2020, the show did not reach the degree of success that would have justified a renewal.
The Mandalorian (Renewed)
The Mandalorian finished its first season with a great deal of success. Indeed, the show won several awards and recognitions, including a Primetime Emmy and a Primetime Creative Award in 2019. The degree of its success led to a spin-off and a season renewal. Like its first season, the show received critical acclaim after its second season. As announced, the third series will be released in 2021, and will be available on Disney+,
The Mandalorian is a side story within the Star Wars universe that transpired years after the events of The Return of Jedi. It is about a Mandalorian hunter named Din Djarin (played by Pedro Pascal) who was hired to retrieved Grogu/The Child. Instead, he finds himself needing to protect the alien child as they go from one misadventure after another. The show was a hit among Star Wars fans, and there were rumors that a spin-off is in the works.
The Chi (Renewed)
Showtime’s coming of age tale has been given the green light for a fourth season. This was announced in September 2020, just a few weeks following the Season 3 finale. With everyone looking to online streaming and television shows for entertainment, this is certainly welcome news. Only a few are the shows are able to deliver the same degree of authenticity in terms of storytelling. It’s no surprise that The Chi has resonated so deeply and has seen quite the growth in its audience.
Starring lead actors Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Alex Hibbert, and Jacob Latimore, the show follows a series of events that inadvertently connects the lives of its main characters. Since its first season, the show has received multiple awards for both individual cast members and the series as a whole. Even the actors themselves sing it praises, calling it a “healing journey”.
Keeping Up with the Kardashians (Ended)
After 20 seasons, the show that catapulted the Kardashian-Jenner family into public recognition is bidding us farewell. The final season is set to air in early 2021 and longtime fans of the show are already missing the chaos and drama of it all. It was the family’s decision, ultimately, to call it quits. In an official statement released to Variety, E! gave credit to the show for helping shape the network’s image as more than just a purveyor of showbiz news. KUWTK was their flagship program for over a decade and it was a massive hit globally.
Since its first broadcast, back in 2007, the Kardashian-Jenners have evolved into a business empire unto themselves. We saw the youngest of the brood, Kylie and Kendall, grow up into independent adults. It is a bittersweet end, but this surely won’t be the last we’ll hear of this infamous family.
Bless This Mess (Cancelled)
Not all shows that get canceled have low ratings, just take Bless This Mess for example. The show starring Pam Grier and Lake Bell was well-received but failed to secure a third season despite its initial success. Its viewership saw an increase during the second season and while it wasn’t a smash hit when it came to ratings, it did have a solid four million viewers per episode. Perhaps this is the reason why a third season didn’t push through. It had momentum but didn’t become the breakout show producers were hoping for.
As for the possibility of it getting picked up by a different platform, the chances are slim. The cast has also moved on to other investments, with Lake Bell currently providing the voice of Poison Ivy on Harley Quinn. Nonetheless, the show did wrap up on a good note—a small consolation for its loyal fanbase.
Drunk History (Cancelled)
Another show that had its final run in 2020 was Comedy Central’s Drunk History. The show was taken off air after six buzz-filled seasons. This came as a major blow to fans of the show because prior to the pandemic, it had been renewed for a seventh season and was even reported to be in pre-production. As for the reason why, Comedy Central commented that they were focusing more on adult animation, rather than live-action programming. As they say, you win some and you lose some. At the moment, the only live-action shows remaining on the channel is “Awkwafina is Nora from Queens”.
During its run, Drunk History received plenty of credits for its uniqueness. It was nominated 17 times at the Emmys, including for Best Variety Sketch Program. While fans are hoping for good news, it might be best to consider this chapter closed.
Tough As Nails (Renewed)
CBS’s popular reality competition series is back for a second season! The program averaged 4.23 million viewers during the summer, which prompted showrunners to greenlight its return. Season 2 of Tough As Nails premiered on February 10, 2021, and introduced us to an entirely new cast all vying for the grand prize. Current frontrunners include pipe welder Sarah Burkett, construction superintendent Scott Henry, and transport track repair worker Iraida Mujica.
Created by Phil and Louise Keoghan, each competitor will be tested for strength, agility, and endurance. That’s on top of the challenges meant to measure the degree of their mental toughness. Elimination happens one by one, but unlike other competition shows, no one gets sent home. Instead, Tough As Nails provides competitors with plenty of chances to win additional prizes by participating in group challenges throughout the season, even if they’ve been eliminated from the individual competition.
The Venture Bros (Cancelled)
When the show first aired back in 2003, it was immediately lumped alongside similar programs such as Sealab 2021 and Space Ghost Coast to Coast. It wouldn’t be too long until The Venture Bros. began to stand out from the fold. Unlike the rest of its peers, Venture gave importance to continuity. Instead of going back to square one with each episode, everything that the characters did had consequences, with effects that rippled across episodes. This kept viewers hooked and much praise should also be given to the show’s writers for ensuring that none of the 86 installments felt repetitive.
Unfortunately, after 17 years on air, the show’s creators announced on Twitter that the show had been canceled. Nonetheless, they remain optimistic for the future. Who knows? With the right investments, you just might see them continue the story in a different form.
High Fidelity (Cancelled)
The cancellation of High Fidelity certainly left many fans of the show heartbroken. It starred Zoe Kravitz as Rob, the owner of a record store who is neck-deep in her love of pop culture. Her performance, along with that of Jake Lacy, David H. Holmes, and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, all received praise and credit. The show was created by Sarah Kucserka and Veronica West, and is a modern reimagining of the 2000 John Cusack film. Though, the beauty of this version is that you needn’t have seen the original in order to appreciate it.
Unfortunately, despite being well-received, the series got the chop with no further news about its future. It did achieve quite a lot for a show with only a single season to its name. We have a feeling High Fidelity will go on to become a cult favorite.
New Amsterdam (Renewed)
Production may have been delayed, but everything is moving forward as it should for New Amsterdam. The show’s highly-anticipated third season premiered on NBC on March 2nd, 2021, and returned to its original 10 p.m. schedule, now that This Is Us has vacated the primetime slot. While its abrupt end on April 2020 may have surprised some, there was never a cause for worry when it comes to it getting renewed. After all, it is a strong contender when it comes to ratings, averaging 45 million views through its previous seasons.
If showrunners are looking to cash in on its immense popularity, it’s only wise investment planning to push through with renewal. Plenty of changes are afoot this season, with some familiar faces bidding New Amsterdam farewell for now. Expect storylines grounded in reality, but with the trademark thrill the show is known for.
Red Table Talk (Renewed)
Fans of Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Red Table Talk can rejoice because Facebook has renewed the show through 2022. There are also reports of a spin-off series in the works, so there’s plenty to look forward to. The second show will be hosted by Gloria Estefan, alongside her daughter Emily and her niece Lili. Touted as Red Table Talk: The Estefans, no date has been set for the premiere, but it will continue the show’s original style of having candid conversations between family members, guests, and experts.
As for the original, its renewal is in line with Facebook Watch’s scale back on its scripted programs such as Sorry for Your Loss and Limetown. To its credit, Red Table Talk is among the platform’s most-watched shows, with 7.1 million followers and 5 million views per episode. It’s no wonder the social media juggernaut is invested in it.
Briarpatch (Cancelled)
It’s a no-go for Rosario Dawson’s Briarpatch. The show, which is based on the Ross Thomas novel of the same name, premiered in February 2020 and had relative success during its initial season. Nonetheless, its showrunner Andy Greenwald does remain optimistic for the show’s future. According to him, if enough people watch the show on-demand then anything is possible—even a comeback. For now, however, he’s shelving the storyline he had planned for what was supposed to be season 2 of the anthology series.
On a rather bittersweet note, Andy did tease that he has a “bunch of pots on a number of stoves” so who knows what he might come up with next. With a brilliant mind such as his, we’re sure it’ll have a similar degree of originality and imagination as Briarpatch. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Selena + Chef (Unconfirmed)
As of this writing, there has been no confirmation whether another season is coming for Selena + Chef. Fans do remain hopeful considering its popularity and the fact that production for it is relatively simpler compared to other programs. The only variable that could influence whether it gets renewed or not is Selena herself. Would she be interested in continuing and have enough time to do so? All of that is up in the air at the moment. One thing’s for sure, though, the singer-actress does seem to enjoy filming the episodes.
As for HBO Max, there likely is no hurry to renew the program at the moment. It is still gaining traction, with more people outside of Selena’s immediate fanbase discovering it. To her credit, though, there’s a lot of potential to this show and we’re excited to see where they take it in the future.
In the Room (Cancelled)
We all know that a high viewership cannot guarantee season renewals for just about any program. In some cases, the cancellation happens due to internal restructuring. This was the case for the show In the Room. The announcement was made following the revelation that E!’s parent company, NBCUniversal, was looking to streamline its current programming line-up. It’s a move that financial advisors will agree with, given the economic impact that the current health climate has had on the company itself.
In the Room, a show that featured celebrity interviews and tours of their homes was hosted by Jason Kennedy. The famed host has since withdrawn from E! as well in an effort to expand his opportunities. The program had been on the air for close to 16 years before its cancellation. During its run, it was one of the most-watched shows on the network.
Doom Patrol (Renewed)
As of September 2020, Doom Patrol has been renewed for a third season. The live-action drama first premiered on DC’s online streaming platform, DC Universe, but is now available on HBO Max as well. It stars big names such as Brendan Fraser, Matt Bomer, Diane Guerrero, April Bowlby, and Joivan Wade. Their characters comprise what has been touted as DC’s “strangest group of heroes”, which is also its biggest draw.
No date has been set yet for the third season premiere, but fans are anticipating it by mid-2021. What do we know so far? Well, it has been confirmed that unlike previous seasons, season 3 will only be available on HBO Max. It can be a big adjustment for DC Universe loyalists, but one that should help expand the show’s current reach. If you’re not already subscribed, consider making a small investment toward the service!
Pop of the Morning (Cancelled)
After the cancellation of In the Room, E!’s morning talk show Pop of the Morning followed suit. This might seem premature to some, considering the fact that the show had just premiered in January 2020 before its cancellation in March of the same year. It was initially put on hiatus, following the health-related restrictions imposed on TV productions. However, NBCUniversal eventually chopped the show from its roster along with other New York-based programs such as E! News.
Pop of the Morning had 1 season and over 40 episodes prior to cancellation. It was hosted by Scott Tweedie, Lilliana Vazquez, and Victor Cruz. They featured celebrity and pop culture news, along with various celebrity interviews. While no other announcements have been made about its future and possible return, it has been confirmed that all of E!’s studio investments will now be centralized in Los Angeles.
Siren (Cancelled)
After three seasons, Siren has bid fans farewell. The show premiered in March 2018 and stars Eline Powell as Ryn Fisher, an adult mermaid who harbors a dark secret. It puts a darker spin on the mermaid myth and the legends surrounding Bristol Cove. Perhaps the show’s biggest draw is the fact that while it was based on fantasy, it also tackled current issues. A good example of this is Season Two’s premise, which revolved around the way pollution from an oil rig has affected both humans and merpeople in Bristol Cove.
During its run, Siren did manage to pull in decent ratings, but it gradually declined in popularity. Freeform, the Disney-owned cable network, pulled the plug on it just months following the third season’s finale. To their credit, the show was wrapped up quite nicely, leaving possible room for a continuation in the future.
Young Sheldon (Renewed)
Admit it; we miss our beloved, sarcastic genius, Sheldon Cooper. Fortunately, we can still see him on the spin-off prequel, Young Sheldon! The show centers around nine-year-old Sheldon as he explores his childhood. The series first aired a special preview on September 25, 2017. After two days, the preview was continued for a full season— and we couldn’t be happier.
The young actor that has the credit for the role of young Sheldon is Iain Armitage. The child star won the Young Artist Award in the Best Performance in a TV Series Leading Young Actor Category for his role on the show. It seems both Armitage and the new program were well received by audiences. We guess it’s safe to say that fans of The Big Bang Theory might be missing the old gang more than they’d like to admit. To catch you up, the fourth season was aired last November 5, 2020. With all the love and support the show received with its first four seasons, it looks like the fifth season is not a far-off dream!
Modern Family (Canceled)
Modern Family is an American family sitcom television series that first aired on September 23, 2009. In its first season, it was met with critical acclaim and became the 3rd highest-rated new show. The series centered on three different types of families in the Los Angeles area, who are interrelated through the show’s main character, Jay Pritchett.
Its cast was made up of some of the oldest and most prominent names in Hollywood, such as Ed O’Neill, who has the credit for the role of Pritchett, Julie Bowen, who played Claire Dunphy, and Sophia Vergara, who took the role of Gloria Delgado. It ended on April 8, 2020, and in the span of almost ten years, the show produced eleven seasons. Kyle Fowle described the finale of the Emmy Award-winning series as both tidy and unfinished, which she says “feels just right.” While we dearly miss the sitcom, we do have enough seasons we can binge-watch again and again and again!
The Masked Singer (Renewed)
The Masked Singer is a reality singing competition series that first aired on January 2, 2019. Nick Cannon has the credit for being the show’s host starting from the 1st season up to its most recent one. It also has the title of being the first unscripted series to rank 1 in its genre in its first season.
In the show, different artists sing out songs for the panelist and the audience. This is done while wearing costumes and masks that cover them from head-to-toe in order to hide their identities. After every performance or round, votes for their favorite singer are cast by the panelist and audience. The celebrity with the least number of votes will then take off their mask to reveal their identity. Subsequently, the 5th season is set to begin airing on March 10, 2021. More singing and the guessing coming your way!
Ellen’s Game of Games (Renewed)
We all know Ellen DeGeneres has a daytime talk show – it’s named after her after all! It might come as a surprise to some, though, that the famous TV personality also has a game show. Ellen’s Game of Games is primarily based on the game segments of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The show’s mechanics is as follows: Players are selected to do one of four preliminary games such as “Blindfolded Musical Chairs” or “Don’t Leave Me Hanging.” The winner then pushes on to the semi-final round to play “Know or Go.” Meanwhile, the last contestant will then play the “Hot Hands ” game for a chance to win $100,000. Just imagine winning the show! You won’t be in need of any cash loans, that’s for sure! The series first aired on December 18, 2017, and just this October, the show was renewed for its 4th season.
Dead To Me (Final Season)
Everyone enjoys a story that revolves around two people who develop a strong friendship as the plot progresses. Well, it’s safe to say that one such show that fits this category is Dead to Me, a dark comedy series revolving around two characters, Judy and Jen, who meet in a grief support group. Like many journeys, however, this friendship reveals more than a few twists along the way, and its upcoming third season will finally be tying up these loose ends for good.
After the first season’s premiere in 2019, Dead to Me received nothing short of praise from audiences around the world. Even so, the show, not to mention its cast and crew, all deserve credit for improving on the second season. With the third and final season already in the works, it’s no wonder fans are already excited with how this story’s seemingly twisted relationship will pan out.
NCIS (Renewed)
NCIS is an action, police procedural series and is known as a spin-off of the legal drama series JAG. It centers on the exploits of a fictional team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, and it first aired on September 23, 2003. The cast is made up of some of Hollywood’s finest, such as Mark Harmon, who plays the role of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, David McCallum starring as Dr. Donald Mallard, and Lauren Holly as Jenny Shepherd.
The show’s rating was initially slow in progressing to some degree. By its sixth season, though, it suddenly became a top-five hit and has been continuing to keep its spot for the next seasons. Currently, with the show’s renewal, the series already has eighteen seasons. The eighteenth season kicked off last November 17, 2020.
